ACCEL's early childhood therapy program serves children as young as 18 months who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or other developmental disabilities. Bista has an interdisciplinary model including ABA, occupational therapy, speech therapy, feeding therapy, AAC device evaluation, and ABA-based social groups all guided by what's best for the child.
That means if a child's ABA program targets communication, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) are in regular contact. If a child's feeding challenges are affecting meal time behavior, the behavior and feeding therapy teams coordinate.
Early childhood therapy changes what's possible for the rest of their lives.

ACCEL
We empower individuals who have disabilities to live fulfilling, happy, and successful lives.
As part of our continuum of care, we also assist organizations, districts, schools and classrooms in implementing strategies that promote academic and behavioral achievement, social skills and adaptive behaviors that transfer to home and community settings.
What looks like pushing a cart is actually precise, purposeful therapy.
Your body has a sensory system called proprioception. It's how your muscles and joints tell your brain where your body is in space, how much pressure you're applying, and how hard to work. Most of us get enough of that input without thinking about it. For many children with developmental disabilities, that system needs more.
That's where "heavy work" comes in.
Pushing a weighted cart creates resistive proprioceptive input, deep pressure through the muscles and joints that helps the nervous system regulate. A calmer, more organized nervous system means a child can focus and engage with learning.
What does ACCEL actually do in its programs?
Our work looks so different depending on the individual, and it's so important that it does! But sometimes if you don't know what disability services look like, it can be confusing on what goes on at ACCEL. If you've been curious, here's a look into a few recent highlights to show a bit of what we do and why it matters.
