🎉 Celebrating the End of an Amazing School Year! 🎉

What a wonderful way to wrap up the school year! Families from Roosevelt Early Childhood were invited to the school to recognize their children’s incredible accomplishments and present them with end-of-year certificates. 🏆📜

The celebration then moved to the multi-purpose room, where families connected with an amazing lineup of community partners! A huge thank you to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Healthychild, System 1-2-3, Reading Ready Pittsburgh, PPS Early Childhood Health Team, and PPS Early Head Start for providing valuable summer resources and fun giveaways like summer reading bags, temporary tattoos, toothbrushes, and squishies! 📚🦷☀️

The fun didn’t stop indoors! We took the party outside where the WISH 99.7 Sweet Treat Patrol treated everyone to popsicles and potato chips. 🍦🥔 We enjoyed beautiful live music from a talented violinist courtesy of Fine Art Miracles, Inc., and families had a blast creating custom summer visors together as a special keepsake. 🎻🎨

Thank you to all of our families, staff, and community partners for making this school year so unforgettable. Have a safe, happy, and wonderful summer! ☀️🎒✨

🎵 Rockin’ into summer at Spring Garden Early Childhood Center! ☀️🪕

Spring Garden hosted Kelsey Friday and The Rest of the Week to celebrate the last week of school. The band has produced a series of entertaining and educational music videos for kids, often blending humor, storytelling, and positive messages. The group’s music is upbeat, accessible, and designed for children of all ages. Songs often feature themes of friendship, self-expression, and emotional resilience.
Thank you so much to Kelsey Friday and the band for bringing so much joy, dance, and inspiration to our students. What a perfect way to send us off into summer break! ☀️🏖️

🩰 Ballet and Sports Mash-Up! ⚾️🏆

You think ballet and sports don't go together? Think again! Students at Roosevelt Early Childhood Center learn that dancers and athletes have a lot more in common than one might think!

For the last two months, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre has visited the school every Monday to engage students in ballet, music, and movement. This year’s program focused on sports and how we use different parts of our bodies to perform athletic movements. Students explored how those same movements can be expressed through the art of ballet. As part of the program, students read Casey at the Bat by Ernest Lawrence Thayer and learned a dance that brought the story to life.

Students had a chance to perform for their families during a special presentation, and it was so wonderful to see the children showcase everything they had learned.

The countdown is on! The last day of school for students is June 12, and the last day for teachers is June 16. Thank you to our students, families, educators, and staff for a great school year!

Pittsburgh Public Schools, in partnership with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, invites all preK–12 students to join the 2026 Citywide Summer Reading Program: Grow!

From June 1–August 9, students can read for joy, complete fun challenges, attend exciting events, earn incentives, and help prevent the “summer slide” while building imagination, curiosity, and confidence.
