Future-Ready Pathways: Strong Foundations. Clear Transitions.
As Pittsburgh Public Schools moves forward with the approved Future-Ready Facilities Plan, we are committed to helping families understand what these changes mean for their school communities.
In this video, we take a closer look at the North Side transition and how the approved plan is designed to create stronger school pathways, clearer grade-level transitions, and more consistent learning experiences for students.
As part of the approved plan:
• Pittsburgh Allegheny PreK-5 will transition from a full magnet school to a full neighborhood school and relocate to the King facility beginning in the 2027–28 school year.
• Pittsburgh King PreK-8 is scheduled to close at the end of the 2026–27 school year. Students in PreK-5 will be served by Pittsburgh Allegheny PreK-5 at the King facility, while students in grades 6–8 will transition to Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8.
• Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 will transition from a full magnet school to a full neighborhood school and relocate to the current Allegheny facility beginning in the 2027–28 school year.
• Pittsburgh Morrow will transition to serve PreK–5 students beginning in the 2027–28 school year, with students in grades 6–8 transitioning to Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 at the Allegheny facility.
• Pittsburgh Allegheny 6-8 is scheduled to close at the end of the 2026–27 school year, with students transitioning to their assigned neighborhood school based on their home address.
• Pittsburgh Spring Hill K-5 is scheduled to close at the end of the 2028–29 school year, with students becoming the founding class of a new elementary school at the Northview location.

Some Phase One changes will not take effect until the start of the 2027–28 school year. PPS will continue sharing updates, timelines, transition supports, transportation information, and opportunities for family and community engagement throughout the implementation process.

🎉👟 WE DID IT, PITTSBURGH! 👟🎉
Thanks to the collective efforts of our schools, departments, community partners, faith-based organizations, businesses, and individual donors, the PPS Shoe Drive raised an incredible $6,913.50!
Together, we collected 13,827 pounds of shoes, helping to save an estimated 5.8 million gallons of water and displace approximately 345.7K pounds of CO₂.
Most importantly, these funds will support Community Schools initiatives focused on food insecurity and attendance supports for students and families.
This is what happens when a community comes together with purpose.

Pittsburgh Public Schools joins the Bulldog Family in mourning the passing of Dr. Anthony Hall.
Dr. Hall’s life and work reflected dedication, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community. His impact was felt by many, and his legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched.
During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Hall family, his loved ones, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. We ask our PPS community to keep them in your thoughts as they navigate this tremendous loss.

Pittsburgh Public Schools honors Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom and recognizes the strength, resilience, and ongoing contributions of Black Americans throughout history.
Pittsburgh Public Schools released its annual School Bus Safety Report Card, revealing an eight percent decline in illegal school bus passings during the 2025-26 school year and highlighting the positive impact of ongoing efforts to improve student safety around stopped school buses.
District leaders, Pittsburgh Public Schools Police, and BusPatrol gathered alongside students, school bus drivers, and a "living school bus" display to mark the progress made during the school year and reinforce a shared commitment to protecting children.
The event also highlighted the National School Bus Safety Call to Action, a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing dangerous driving behavior around school buses and providing communities with a roadmap to improve student safety.
