At a moment when many students are wondering which college degree will lead to lasting professional opportunity, nursing continues to look like one of the clearest answers. “Nursing is an incredibly broad profession,” said Dr. Debra Lee, director of Carlow University’s online RN to BSN program. “There are opportunities in leadership, healthcare organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and medical device companies. The BSN becomes a platform for exploring those possibilities.”

President Kathy Humphrey, PhD, participated in the ACCU Rome Seminar, where she joined Catholic higher education leaders from across the nation. One meeting, however, stood out from the rest, meeting Pope Leo XIV:
“Standing before Pope Leo XIV was not simply a meeting with a world leader or a famous figure. It was a profoundly meaningful moment—one that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. As I shook his hand, I was struck by the reality that I was standing before a man entrusted with shepherding more than a billion Catholics around the world. A man chosen by his peers in a remarkably brief conclave. A man whose first message to the world was a simple but powerful call for peace.”

Susan Polojac, MEd, has spent more than 35 years advocating for children, families, and early childhood educators across Pennsylvania.
This spring, she was recognized with the Voice for Children Distinguished Career Award from PennAEYC. Yet when asked about the honor, Sue quickly shifted the focus elsewhere. “I had people at Carlow who believed in me,” she says. “I try to do the same thing for others.”
