Why should students travel to Ghana? 🇬🇭

Kwame Appiah, Site Director and AllPeopleBeHappy Fellow, shares why students are choosing Ghana for service abroad experiences that go far beyond travel.

Through AllPeopleBeHappy, students don’t just visit, they engage. They learn from Ghana’s rich culture, connect with its history, and take part in service-learning projects that create real impact.

AllPeopleBeHappy wins at the GoAbroad
Innovation awards! 👏

We are proud to announce that we recently recieved the Innovation in Philanthropy award for our disaster relief work in Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa.

When Hurricane Melissa devastated communities in eastern Jamaica where we have partnered for 25 years, we activated our global network fast. Nearly $100,000 was raised for Jamaica relief and an additional $25,000 for cyclone recovery in Sri Lanka.

On the ground, the response prevented a potential waterborne illness outbreak through emergency water storage systems, restored satellite internet so community leaders could coordinate relief efforts, and rebuilt community spaces for education and gathering.

All of it was locally led, with decisions remaining in the hands of community members. Weeks later, the same model was replicated in Sri Lanka, proving the approach is scalable, not just reactive.

Thank you to and congratulations to all of the incredible organizations that were nominated.

Even though international aid has been decimated, we are not sitting back. ❌

We’re all-in on supporting the people and organizations that make this world a bit better.

Jim Bach has personified our mission at AllPeopleBeHappy, spending the last 6 months deployed in Jamaica, Bolivia, and Tanzania to help our network rethink how we can create sustainable projects and models in a time of aid shortage.

Thank you Jim for everything you do to support our mission. 🤍

Clean water changes everything. 💧

Through a partnership between Education Across Borders and AllPeopleBeHappy, families in the Dominican Republic now have access to safe water filtration and sanitation systems built alongside the community.

Clean water means health improves, children return to school and communities prosper.

Real change starts from the ground up. 🌎💧

Every AllPeopleBeHappy program begins with a conversation. 🌍

Together with universities and our global community partners, we co-design experiences rooted in real connection, meaningful engagement, and lasting impact.

From pre-departure to long after students return home, our programs are built to create relationships that continue beyond the trip itself.

If you’re ready to create a program with purpose, let’s start the conversation. ✨

In 2020, the world shut down, but we didn’t. 🌎

When borders closed and everything went virtual, we adapted by launching Virtual Service-Learning to keep young people connected to purpose across the globe.

What started as screens and conversations turned into something real.

A 5-year strategic plan.
A school sick bay.
A clean water project that will impact thousands.

Together with our partners in Ghana, we didn’t just create experiences, we built something that will last.

Today, tens of thousands of lives are better because of that commitment, and it’s been recognized on an international level.

This is what happens when you invest in people, trust local leadership, and stay for the long haul.

At AllPeopleBeHappy, we create impact, not just connection.

Rural communities around the world are facing a quiet crisis: young people leaving in search of opportunity, taking with them the energy, talent, and future of their hometowns.

But in the countryside of Ecuador, something different is happening.

Together with Nido de Vida and AllPeopleBeHappy, one community is reimagining what rural life can look like, creating opportunities, strengthening connections, and building a future people don’t want to leave.

From welcoming global volunteers to launching local projects in agriculture, water access, and sustainable farming, this is more than development. It is a movement rooted in pride, collaboration, and long-term vision.

And the impact is already real: stronger community ties, new sources of income, and a renewed sense of possibility for the next generation.

Change like this takes time. But it starts with people coming together and choosing to believe in what’s possible.

If more communities worked this way, the future could look very different.

Some of the most beautiful places in the world carry the deepest stories.

Just beyond the Wild Atlantic Way lies Northern Ireland, where decades of conflict shaped communities on both sides of the peace walls.

For over 25 years, All People Be Happy has been bringing people together across those divides, creating space for connection, understanding, and real dialogue.

When you come here, you don’t just see Ireland.
You experience its story, its resilience, and what peace can look like.
