Bowman Raider Band

We are excited to welcome Maya Kamal as our new Assistant Band Director for the Bowman Band! 🎷🎉🎼

Maya Kamal is starting her first year of teaching and is excited to join the Bowman Middle School family! Ms. Kamal grew up in Frisco, TX, before attending Texas Christian University, where she earned a Bachelor’s in Music Education. Most recently, Ms. Kamal student-taught at Keller High School and Indian Springs Middle School in Keller ISD. During her time at TCU, Ms. Kamal served as a College Jazz Intern with the Texas Jazz All Stars, where she taught the saxophones, and was a Saxophone Private Lesson Teacher in White Settlement ISD.

At TCU, Ms. Kamal studied under Joe Eckert, Allen Cordingley, and Laura Singletary. During her time at TCU, she performed in multiple ensembles, including the TCU Wind Symphony under Bobby Francis, TCU Symphonic Band under Brian Youngblood, TCU Jazz Ensembles I and II under Allen Cordingley and Joey Carter, TCU Horned Frog Marching Band under Dr. Drew Dickey, Mr. Matthew Garrett, and Brian Youngblood, TCU Concert Band under Mr. Matthew Garrett on French Horn as a secondary instrument, and the TCU Saxophone Ensemble under Mr. Allen Cordingley.

Outside of band, Ms. Kamal enjoys watching sports, specifically hockey and college football. She also loves exploring cities and visiting coffee shops, so if you know any good places, let her know!

We are BLOWN AWAY by the amazing Alumni Rehearsal we had tonight! Over 60 former Bowman Band members came back to where it all started to prep for Mr C's final piece. Memories were shared and lots of laughs too! We hope many more can join us this Wednesday night at our Spring Concert to celebrate Mr C, 5:30 at the RFAC!

Alumni Band Performance Information:

We are inviting all alumni back to perform with Mr. C one last time under his baton at our Spring concert, on Wednesday May 6th at the Robinson Fine Arts Center. It is directly before the Williams Band Concert, also at the RFAC. If you are interested in performing, please fill out this google form. We will email all signups with a rehearsal date/time(likely the night before the concert) in the Bowman Band room. Please feel free to pass this along to any alumni interested in performing!

Symphonic Band Sweepstakes! The Bowman Symphonic Band earned straight 1s from all judges, earning their 7th sweepstakes award in a row! It was an outstanding performance and we are so proud of these kids for their hard work and musicianship! 🎶 🎵

The Williams Band came by yesterday during band classes for a side by side rehearsal and clinic by Mr. Figlewicz! It was a great time and the kids got so much better! It was so fun seeing our alumni return to help our current students!
