Every guitarist starts somewhere.
The player you admire today was once struggling with the same chords, scales, and songs you're working on right now.
Don't compare your Chapter 1 to someone else's Chapter 20.
Be inspired. Learn. Grow. Then focus on becoming a better musician than you were yesterday.
That's where the real progress happens.

π MAD PROFESSOR SAYS...
Is A Major Pentatonic the same as F # Minor Pentatonic?
YES!
They contain the exact same notes:
A β’ B β’ C # β’ E β’ F #
The difference isn't the notesβit's which note feels like "home."
πΈ Over an A major progression, you'll hear the A Major Pentatonic sound.
πΈ Over an F # minor progression, you'll hear the F # Minor Pentatonic sound.
Same notes. Different musical perspective.
Understanding relative major and minor scales is one of the biggest lightbulb moments for guitar players. π‘
What's your favorite relative major/minor pair?

Some kids wanted toys.
Some of us wanted a guitar.
Maybe that's why we're still obsessed with six strings, tube amps, and learning one more song decades later. πΈ
What was the first guitar that made you stop and stare?
Bonus points if you still own it.

You pick up a guitar thinking it might be a fun hobby.
A few months later you're talking about tone, collecting picks, watching gear videos, learning songs on the weekend, and planning your next guitar purchase.
Then one day you realize it isn't just something you do...
It's part of who you are.
How long have you been playing? πΈ
06/13/2026
We've all been there...
"I don't need theory."
"I just play by feel."
"I'll learn it later."
Meanwhile, the players making the biggest leaps are usually the ones spending a little time understanding how music actually works.
Theory isn't there to limit creativity. It's there to explain why something sounds good and help you get there faster.
Don't let theory become the thing standing between you and the player you want to be.
How much music theory do you knowβnone, a little, or a lot?

π§ͺ MAD PROFESSOR SAYS...
What scales sound good over a dominant 7th progression in A?
If you're jamming over A7 β D7 β E7, here are three great places to start:
πΈ A Mixolydian
The classic choice. Bluesy, smooth, and works naturally over dominant 7th chords.
πΈ A Lydian Dominant
Want a little more color? The raised 4th adds a jazzy, modern flavor.
πΈ A Altered Scale
For maximum tension and attitude. Great when you want outside sounds and dramatic resolution.
π‘ Pro Tip:
Most players can spend a lifetime exploring Mixolydian over dominant chords. Master that sound first, then branch out into the more exotic options.
Which one do you use most often?
