It’s Taco Tuesday 🌮

👉🏻 Want my best taco recipes sent straight to your DM? Comment “recipe” below.

Taking a brief break from Meat Meme Monday to celebrate one of my favorite foods… tacos.

Over the years, I’ve developed quite a few taco recipes, including:

🔥 Smoked Quesa Birria Tacos
🔥 Chili Lime Skirt Steak Fajitas
🔥 Beef Cheek Barbacoa Tacos
🔥 Tacos Al Pastor cooked rotisserie-style on a pellet smoker
🔥 Alligator, Iguana, and Octopus Tacos for the adventurous taco enthusiasts

A special shoutout to my taco contributor, Uncle Chico, who developed the Smoked Quesa Birria recipe and several other epic taco creations we’ve featured over the years.

One of my favorite taco tips? Skip the flour tortillas and make your own using organic corn masa. I love Macienda Thomas red and blue masa for both the flavor and color pop. The nixtamalization process makes corn easier to digest while increasing the availability of nutrients like calcium and vitamin B3, making tacos a surprisingly nutrient-dense meal when built with quality ingredients.

Now tell me… what’s your favorite way to do tacos? 👇🔥

𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮 🇭🇷

Croatia is a seafood lover’s dream! This family trip 2 years in the making has surpassed all my wildest dreams! The natural beauty of the Adriatic Sea paired with the rich history and culture of the Croatian coast has made this vacation of a lifetime for a health obsessed foodie and history buff like me. Getting my fill of shellfish and octopus 🐙 while I can!

Why Shellfish is part of a Pro-metabolic lifestyle: 🦐

“Oysters are an excellent source of zinc, which is often deficient in hypothyroid people, and they provide a very balanced balance of trace minerals that support the thyroid.”

“Because of their high content of zinc, selenium, and other trace minerals, shellfish are exceptionally supportive for the immune system and thyroid function.” - Dr Ray Peat, PHD.

Feeling and recharged. 🫶

Would you try Octopus?🐙

If you’ve been thinking of doing a cleanse- here is your call to action! 🚨

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m an advocate for parasite cleansing and I’ve done a few in the past on my gut healing journey. Im starting the gold standard of natural parasite cleansing - the parafy kit by .hood , when I get back from vacation in two weeks, starting June 22nd.

The parafy kit does it all:
⭐️Detoxes heavy metals - what parasites are attracted to
⭐️Kills candida and fungus - and the biofilms where parasites can hide
⭐️Uses a binder - to absorb the toxins you are expelling which reduces die off symptoms

💲DISCOUNT: If you want to do this cleanse with me, use code GRILLGIRL10 for 10% off your parafy kit.

👉Comment “link” to have the kit sent to your DM!

I’ll start a group chat with everyone cleansing together and we can share the results! It’s going to be an adventure in cleansing together!

☀️𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 & 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 ☀️

Usually, this feed is full of perfectly styled plates and grill marks. But today, I wanted to share a slice of my real life. This was me on Memorial Day, just floating on the boat and completely unplugging with my favorite furry co-captain. 🌊🐶
For a long time, my life was stuck in ‘high gear.’ I was pushing, performing, and stressing over the algorithm—and my body paid the price. My nervous system was trapped in a constant state of fight-or-flight, which ended up wrecking my gut health (hello, SIBO and a hiatal hernia) and leaving my thyroid very sluggish.
Lately, I’ve been working on a massive pivot toward pro-metabolic healing. A huge part of that journey isn’t just what’s on my plate—it’s about actively getting my body back into ‘rest and digest’ mode and giving my thyroid the safety it needs to thrive.

With summer officially here, I’m leaning heavily into what I like to call a Summertime Metabolism. I now think of sunlight as essential healing medicine. ☀️

Dr. Ray Peat always taught that safe, natural sunlight acts like a direct battery charger for your cells. It tells your metabolism that you are safe, allowing your body to switch off the chronic stress hormones that freeze your digestion and shut down your thyroid.

I’m dropping the pressure to be perfect on here. This summer, my goal is to heal my gut, support my thyroid, and share the real, unpolished journey with you guys.

What does that mean for this page? I’m absolutely still going to share the grilling recipes but I’ll be sharing them with a pro-metabolic lens with info on how to nourish your body and support metabolism and digestion. Plus, I’ll be taking you behind the scenes as I develop recipes for my upcoming pro-metabolic cookbook!

The kitchen is still my sanctuary, but peace of mind is my priority. ✨

Cheers to a summer of actual rest, digestion, and healing. Who else is working on lowering their stress levels and supporting their health this season? 👇

This week’s obsession: Picanha with Kimchee Butter 🥩🔥
If you’ve never tried picanha (aka coulotte steak), consider this your sign. It’s one of the most flavorful cuts out there, grills beautifully, and usually comes in at a better price point than a NY strip. 😎

Big flavor, juicy results, and that crispy fat cap? Hard to beat.

Happy National Brisket Day! 🔥

👇 WANT THE RECIPES? 👇
Comment “BRISKET” below and I’ll send you the tutorials straight to your DMs! Which brisket style are you making first? 🥩🔥

If there’s one cut of meat that deserves its own holiday, it’s brisket. Low and slow, rich and smoky, crispy bark with melt-in-your-mouth texture… there’s honestly nothing like it. 🤤

Over the years I’ve shared SO many brisket tutorials on grillgirl.com, but after shifting my focus toward more pro-metabolic, gut-supportive eating, I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for this classic comfort food.

While mainstream wellness culture pushes ultra lean muscle meat like chicken breasts nonstop, brisket actually offers something really special when prepared properly:

✨ Collagen + Glycine Support
Brisket is naturally rich in connective tissue, and after hours of slow cooking, that collagen breaks down into gelatin rich in glycine — an amino acid known for supporting recovery, digestion, relaxation, and thyroid function.

✨ Nutrient Dense + Satiating
The combination of protein and healthy fats makes brisket incredibly satisfying and supportive for stable energy levels.

✨ Slow-Cooked = Easier on Digestion
That long cook time helps break everything down into tender, bioavailable goodness your body can utilize more easily.

Swipe through the carousel for some of my favorite brisket recipes and techniques including:

🔥 “Better Than Sex” Brisket
🔥 Pellet Smoker Brisket
🔥 Big Green Egg Brisket
🔥 Captain Ron’s Foil Boat Method
🔥 Burnt Ends + more

https://grillgirl.com/page/2/?s=Brisket

💡 Pro-Metabolic Pairing Tip:
Serve your brisket with fruit, orange juice, honey glazed carrots, roasted sweet potatoes, or other easy-to-digest carbs to help support metabolism and mineral balance.

Meat Meme Monday — Memorial Day Edition 🔥

Today’s about more than just a day off, a backyard cookout, or firing up the grill. 🇺🇸 I’m grateful for the brave men and women who served and sacrificed so we can enjoy moments like these with family, friends, and good food. ❤️🤍💙

I added in a few of my own cooks for some inspiration if you’re still planning today’s menu—because nothing brings people together quite like great BBQ. 🥩🔥

Wishing everyone a safe and delicious Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
