After 44 years of inspiring students through art, Becky Deason is retiring from Cardinal Gibbons. A recipient of the school's first-ever Lewis Award for Excellence in Teaching, Becky has left an indelible mark on generations of students, colleagues, and the entire Gibbons community. Her classroom was more than a place to learn technique; it was a place where creativity, confidence, and a love of beauty flourished.

As Fine Arts Director, Kevin Ferguson shared, "She's an artist and an educator in equal measure. Through her teaching, her artistry, and her presence, she's brought more beauty and joy and wonder into this world than you can measure."

Thank you, Becky, for four decades of dedication, artistry, and unwavering care for your students. Your impact will be felt for years to come. ❤️

This year’s honorees include students who rank at the top of their class, recipients of the Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama Award for academic excellence, and winners of the Bishop F. Joseph Gossman subject-area awards. In addition, several students received special recognition for their faith, leadership, and service.

Congratulations to the Men's Lacrosse team, who recently took home the NCHSAA 7A State Championship, earning back-to-back titles!

State Champs 🏆

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Estep ’28 on capturing the 7A State Championship title in the 800m!

Kaitlyn also teamed up with Emery Campion ’27, Callie Swanson ’26, and Mikaela Povsic ’26 to bring home another state championship victory in the 4×400m relay.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Raleigh recently highlighted its partnership with our Christian Service Learning program, a senior theology honors elective in its fourth semester.

Over the course of 10 weeks, William Choi ’26, John Prater ’26, and Jake Signorelli ’26 served at the Cary Habitat ReStore, putting faith into action through hands-on community service.

Classmates also dedicated their time to local organizations including Note in the Pocket, The Green Chair Project, Beginning and Beyond, and the Food Bank making a meaningful impact across our community.
