A strong workforce doesn't happen by accident, it happens through collaboration.

The annual Apprenticeship & Career Signing Ceremony highlighted the incredible work of Surry-Yadkin Works and its commitment to connecting students with meaningful career opportunities right here in our region. Through partnerships with local businesses, industry leaders, educators, and community organizations, students are gaining hands-on experience, building valuable skills, and launching successful careers close to home.

Congratulations to all of the apprentices recognized, and thank you to the employers and partners who continue investing in the future of Surry and Yadkin counties. A special thank you to Apprenticeship NC for its ongoing support of apprenticeship programs and workforce development efforts across North Carolina.

Together, we're building the next generation of talent and strengthening our local workforce.

⚡ 18 students are about to change their futures this summer.

Tuesday, we celebrated the kickoff of the Careers Electric Summer Academy with 18 high school juniors and seniors from Cleveland County who are getting paid to learn, earning college credit, AND walking away with a pre-apprenticeship certificate. That's a head start most people only dream about.

We're grateful for our partners who joined us to celebrate these students, including Dr. Matt Meyer, North Carolina Business Committee for Education, Dr. Matt Tipton, Cleveland Early College High School, Mr. Rodney Borders (Cleveland County Schools), Mr. Juan Cherry (Shelby High School), and Mrs. Monica Dellinger (Pinnacle Classical Academy). It takes a community to build a workforce pipeline this strong.
