Each year, 500+ K-12 schools representing over 12,000 students and 65 counties in North Carolina participate in NCSO activities.

North Carolina Science Olympiad (NCSO) is a NC State University program with a mission to attract and retain the pool of K-12 students entering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) degrees and careers in North Carolina. The Science House at NC State is hosting FREE hands-on workshops for NC High School Biology & Chemistry teachers.

These intensive three-day workshops introduce newcomers to the core pedagogical principles and classroom applications of Modeling Instruction. Designed for those new to the method, they offer a concise, high-impact preview of the full curriculum. To begin the application process or check your district’s priority status, please provide your preferred location.

When & Where:
✔️ July 14–16 - Raleigh
✔️ July 21–23 - Morehead City

🎉 BIG NEWS! Please join us in welcoming Jodi Davis, our new NCSO Elementary Program Coordinator! 🌟

Jodi will lead statewide Division A (elementary school) programming. She will manage tournament logistics, support regional directors, and help expand STEM opportunities for young students across North Carolina. 🔬

✨Jodi brings 29 years of STEM teaching experience to NCSO, including eight years at Wilmington Academy of Arts and Science (WAAS). She is also an experienced Science Olympiad coach who knows exactly what it takes to inspire teamwork and a love of science. 🏆

"My favorite memory was the night before the state tournament. My friends and I spent hours in a hotel stairwell testing our elastic cord for Bungee Drop. In between trials, I reviewed my info sheets... There wasn't a dull moment. Hours of jokes, banter, excitement, and nerves." — Josie, NCSO Student.

The April 18th State Tournament was a weekend to remember! 🏆 While the medals have been awarded, our mission to support these incredible students continues.
