This week, our hearts are heavy for the people of Beni.

On Sunday morning, an attack reportedly carried out by the Allied Democratic Forces, or ADF, took the lives of 16 people, including 15 civilians and one soldier. The attack happened just one kilometer from the UCBC campus in a village called Ngadi.

For our students, faculty and staff, the violence in eastern Congo is not distant or abstract. And still, they continue forward.

At UCBC, the classroom remains a place where courage is practiced, hope is protected and the next generation is equipped to serve and lead with wisdom and compassion.

We grieve with those who lost loved ones. We pray for those living in fear. And we stand with the UCBC community as they continue to be a place of learning, faith and hope in the heart of Beni.

Please join us in supporting UCBC in moments like these in any way you’re able.

From joining UCBC as a visiting lecturer to serving today as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Dr. Rebecca Wasingya’s journey reflects what happens when potential is recognized and nurtured.

At UCBC, leadership is not defined by position alone, but by service. Dr. Wasingya models a servant leadership style that is grounded in heart and humility. She raises the bar and lifts others in the process, creating opportunities for women to lead and to strengthen their classrooms as well as their communities.

Through teaching, mentorship and leadership development programs, Dr. Wasingya is helping shape a new generation of changemakers who lead with integrity and purpose.

The work of transformation in eastern Congo is not done alone. It is part of a larger story of the global Church.

Through partnerships, prayer and shared mission, churches and individuals around the world are walking alongside UCBC students and their communities. Together, we are learning from one another, encouraging one another and participating in God’s work of renewal.

This is what mission looks like today—not one-directional, but mutual. A global community joined in faith, hope and a shared calling to serve.
