Congratulations to EnCorps Fellow Samina Shetty, recipient of the 2026 Arthur Housinger Memorial Scholarship.

Samina brings years of experience in technology, project leadership, and volunteer service to her path into teaching. Through EnCorps, she completed her Volunteer Guest Teaching placement in a geometry classroom at Fremont High School and is now pursuing her MA and teaching credential in mathematics at San José State University.

The Arthur Housinger Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of EnCorps Fellow Arthur Housinger, who was in the process of transitioning from a successful software engineering career into the classroom. He was known for his generosity, kindness, curiosity, and commitment to helping students build confidence in math and science.

Samina’s dedication to students and her commitment to equitable STEM learning reflect the spirit of this scholarship and the impact STEM professionals can have when they bring their experience into the classroom.

Another school year. Another group of students who saw what it looks like when someone from their community shows up and says — this subject matters, and so do you.

To every EnCorps Fellow who stepped into a classroom this year: what you planted doesn't stop growing when the bell rings for the last time. It continues in ways you may never fully see. And that's the most beautiful part.
Here's to the growth. Here's to whatly next.

Bay Area Fellow Michael Lee brought his STEM expertise to Gunderson High School, leading 11th and 12th graders through a lesson on logarithms and how they connect to exponents. This is what it looks like when professionals from the field step into the classroom. 📐

A strong finish to a great year of learning! 👏🏽👏🏼👏🏻👏🏿

At our final LAUSD CTE Community of Practice, teachers got a head start on planning for a successful new school year. Mentor teachers led breakout sessions on Norms & Routines, Classroom Management, Building Community, and Home/School Partnerships, while teachers reflected challenges they encountered in this current year and left with practical resources and actionable next steps.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to a positive and inspiring close to this year’s training and mentorship program!

To every teacher in their final stretch — we see you. The tired is real, so is the pride, and whatever comes next, you showed up for your students all year long. That’s worth celebrating. 🎉
