As a highly intense environment, the construction industry faces one of the highest rates of su***de of any industry. It’s very important to us that you know that you are not alone.
Today, Instructors and Leaders from the Northern Nevada Electrical Training Center (NNETC) received special training from VitalCog, a construction specific su***de prevention training program.
With over 400 apprentices in our program, the NNETC strives to set each one of you up for success. We know how taxing the construction industry can be on our bodies, and our minds. We want to remind all of our apprentices that our instructors are here to listen, to guide, and to help. You are not alone. We are here for you to talk to, always.
If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or Text: 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of visiting the Naval Air Station for the NAS Fallon Career & Resources Fair for the Fleet and Family Support Center. Showcasing the wonderful pathway to becoming an Electrician and connecting with the community is one of our favorite outreach opportunities. We look forward to seeing the people we meet walk through our doors to begin a new journey in the electrical field.

Meet the Instructor Coordinator: Scott Betz
Scott Betz began his career in the electrical trade in 1986 and quickly realized it was the career path he wanted to pursue. He applied for the Reno IBEW Apprenticeship in 1987 and was accepted into the program a year later.
As an apprentice, Scott worked for several contractors before joining Nelson Electric in 1991. What started as an opportunity turned into a 30 year career with one contractor, where he gained extensive field experience and industry knowledge.
In 2022, Scott joined the Northern Nevada Electrical Training Center as a full-time instructor. Now serving as the Instructor Coordinator, he brings more than three decades of field experience into the classroom and takes pride in helping apprentices develop both technical and leadership skills.
Scott enjoys teaching courses in Power Quality, Health Care Facilities, and Leadership Skills, helping shape the next generation of electrical professionals.

On Thursday, May 21st, we had the opportunity to attend the Lyon County School District Trade Fest in Silver Springs, NV.
Students in attendance were able to get hands on experience at our booth and learn what it means to be an electrician, what our career is like, and how to apply to our apprenticeship program.
We had a wonderful time meeting the future of the blue collar industry and we are excited to welcome them into our field should they choose to pursue this life changing experience.
Thank you to Lyon County School District for having us out!
