Meet Neha Veeramalla, a Class of 2026 graduate from the Department of Psychology!

During her time at VCU, Neha gained hands-on research experience across a range of populations, including studies on substance use, spinal cord injury patients, and pregnant and postpartum women.

Her research journey included work in the Social Psychology and Neuroscience Lab, led by associate professor David Chester, Ph.D., as well as serving as a research assistant with the Central Virginia VA Health Care System under Scott McDonald, Ph.D., where she built connections with military veterans living with spinal cord injuries.

Last Thursday, the VCU Rice Rivers Center hosted its first ever Footprints on the James reunion! 👣✨

This event brought together alumni from every class since 2014, along with the most recent graduates. Over 60 attendees gathered for a potluck, T-shirt making featuring their new artist-in-residence at Rice, and a viewing of a photo slideshow from years past. They also used the occasion to announce the newest development: the Immersive River Field Education Fund!

Meet Emma! 👋

Emma is a mass communications major studying abroad in Florence, Italy for 10 weeks. While overseas, she will be studying at the Santa Reparata International School of Art, the leading international art and design school in Florence. This program gives students the opportunity to take a variety of arts, language and culture courses in the home of the Renaissance!

Since age 8, Milan Marsh said, she has been drawn to math and its problem-solving aspect.

Her introduction to Virginia Commonwealth University came during high school, when the American Chemical Society’s Project SEED Program, in partnership with VCU Chemistry Department, offered her a two-month summer research internship.

“That experience had a major impact on me,” Marsh said of the program that provided hands-on laboratory work, as well as college readiness and financial support. “It sparked my interest in scientific research and gave me very positive experiences with the university, its faculty and its community. Because of that, VCU was always a place I held in high regard, so when I was looking at Ph.D. programs, it felt like a natural choice.”
