At READ RVA, teaching is personal and so is the impact.

Every lesson builds more than literacy skills. It builds confidence, independence, and real opportunity. And those changes don’t stop with one learner. They carry into families, workplaces, and throughout our community.

That’s what READ RVA teachers make possible every day.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re so grateful for the time, care, and commitment you bring to every session and for the ripple effect you create across Richmond. 💙

This Read Across America Week, we’re proud to spotlight conversations that go beyond the page. 📚✨

Our CEO, Karen O’Brien, CARITAS participant Calvin, and volunteer Suzanne Long recently took part in READ Between the Wines, a quarterly seminar series from READ RVA that raises awareness about adult literacy and its deep connection to social justice and opportunity.

Literacy opens doors - to employment, stability, confidence, and second chances. We’re grateful to share space in conversations that remind us how powerful words, stories, and education can be. 💙
