🙌 “This is spot on and exactly what my teachers need. I really want my newer teachers to sing songs and share nursery rhymes and make up chants with their students. I feel like they really lack the confidence to just make up their own songs with the kids. This is going to help them so much.” — Virginia Preschool Administrator

🎉 Confidence is everything in early childhood teaching. When teachers feel equipped and supported, they show up differently — and children feel it immediately.

➡️ Our new Certification Pathway for 26-27 is designed specifically to build that confidence at every level: individual teachers, entire classrooms, and school-wide communities. Through workshops, self-paced modules, and personalized coaching, your team will come away transformed.

Steady beat. Simple songs. Gentle movement. For the youngest learners, these aren’t enrichment activities — they’re foundational. High-quality musical experiences support brain development, nervous system regulation, language acquisition, and self-soothing in ways few other activities can.

You don’t need instruments or equipment. You need your voice, your lap, and a willingness to be a little silly. A gentle bounce. A hummed lullaby. A clapping pattern. These moments are doing profound developmental work.

Save this and share with your infant/toddler room colleagues — they deserve this reminder too. 💛

✨ New Blog Post ✨ // Summer budget deadlines are approaching. Before spending remaining grant funds on supplies alone, consider investments that continue creating impact long after the budget deadline passes.

The strongest investments don’t just add more “stuff” to classrooms. They strengthen teaching practices, improve classroom culture, and support better outcomes for children.

At My Music Starts Here, we help programs invest in:
🎵 Standards-aligned classroom resources
🎵 Meaningful professional development
🎵 Educator certification pathways

When evaluating purchases, ask:
“Will this still be making a difference six months from now?”

A personal story from to close out . 🩵

After having her first baby, Mary found herself in the thick of postpartum depression; exhausted, disconnected, and searching for something to hold onto. That something turned out to be a ukulele.

Music was a lifeline… and eventually, its impact shaped the way Mary showed up for her students too.

That’s the heart of what we do at My Music Starts Here. When educators experience music as a tool for their own regulation and healing, it transforms how they bring it into the classroom.

The ukulele is approachable, portable, and immediately usable, with your students and with yourself, providing:

🎵 Emotional regulation
🎵 Presence and connection
🎵 A community built around music

Your story might look a lot like Mary’s. 🩵 Pop a heart in the comments if so - we all need more reminders that we’re not alone!

✨ In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re giving away a Kala Ukulele Starter Kit — Soprano Ukulele, Online Lessons, Quick Start Guide, Kala App, Clip-on Tuner, and Tote Bag. To enter: follow both and and comment on any of our posts.
