This week, Dr. Newton will do something few principals ever get the chance to experience- as Principal of Rex & Margaret Fortune Early College High School, she’ll hand a diploma to her own daughter, Aniayah Newton, as she walks across the graduation stage!
But Aniayah isn’t just graduating high school. Through Fortune’s Dual Enrollment program, she has already earned her Associate’s Degree from Cosumnes River College and will be attending Cal Poly this fall.
This is the fruit of the Fortune academic mission, a mother watching her child thrive. A scholar graduating with college credits already completed. A family experiencing firsthand the power of high expectations, opportunity, and a community that believes in Black excellence.
