A little behind but trying to find some of the best urban hikes in the USA under 6 miles. This week I explored Crowders Mountain just outside Charlotte, North Carolina metro. It was a delightful 5.5 miles with ~9,000 ' of gain. Crowders Mountain state park offers a variety of hiking trails with stunning views of Charlotte and beyond from the summit, and opportunities for sport and trad climbing. They highlight the well-maintained trails, the challenging hikes, and the peaceful, natural atmosphere. They also like the clean facilities and the helpful staff. 10/10 recommend if you happen to be in the area.
