I was watching new episodes of one of my favorite shows this weekend while I was catching up on all the household tasks that have been neglected in the first few weeks of summer break, while I've been in survival mode and loved a conversation that some of the characters were having.
One character was putting a lot of time and energy into creating romantic, memorable moments for their relationship. In the midst of planning, and chatting with friends about it, they said, "Our entire relationship has been special, I don't want it to become everyday." The friends who were part of that conversation kindly and thoughtfully shared how much they love living those everyday moments with their significant others.
The romantic, special, "memorable" moments are good, but being able to have fun, connect, and make memories in the "everyday" is what keeps a relationship moving forward! 15 years into marriage, I can honestly say that those times we connect and enjoy the mundane are the ones that stand out to me.
Don't be a afraid of the everyday. Live your lives together abs enjoy every moment of the life you're building!

15 year wedding anniversary edition! We escaped our responsibilities for the weekend to celebrate another year of marriage!
When we get away together we plan new experiences, favorite activities, eat delicious food, laugh a lot, and enjoy some rest and relaxation!
This weekend was a good "back to the roots of our relationship" experience. Now back to real life!

Summer is here and I'm excited for our big adventures but I'm even more excited for the simple moments we spend together this season! We plan on enjoying deck dates, watering the flowers together, late night and early morning walks, sharing a snack or sweet treat, alongside our fun dates out!
Simple summertime moments are what I look forward to the most!

Summer break has arrived, and although that means nothing for our work schedules, it does mean that the kids are home 24/7 and we're planning a lot of fun and adventures! Summer means a big shift in our routines and schedules so we have to be more intentional about the time we set aside for our marriage, finding alone time, and putting dates on the calendar.
We don't reserve all the summer fun just for our family adventures! Some things we do both with the kids and just the two of us. Some we decide to exclude the kids on and make just a couple thing, and others that are usually just for a date become a fun family outing.
How do you balance the family and couple stuff during summertime?

We run on caffeine over here, his zero sugar soda and my v8 energy so I didn't ask for a redo when I noticed that shiny third wheel in the shot, I just accepted it!
Yard projects, house deep cleaning, end of year shenanigans for both kids and a full summer ahead of us. I'm really looking forward to our 15 year anniversary weekend getaway and put the final touches on my plans today. I'm going for quality time, relaxation, our favorite activies, and a few new adventures.
Ask us anything about our 15 years of marriage!
