John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer and conductor. Over his seven-decade career, he has composed many of the best known scores in film history. His compositional style blends romanticism, impressionism, and atonal music with complex orchestration. Best known for his collaborations with George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, he has received numerous accolades, including 27 Grammy Awards, five Academy Awards, seven BAFTA Awards, three Emmy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. With a total of 54 Academy Award nominations, he is the second-most nominated person in the award's history, after Walt Disney.[a] He is also the oldest Academy Award nominee in any category, receiving a nomination at 91 years old

❄️ Where the Snow Teaches Us to Listen

Snow has a way of quieting the world without asking permission. One moment everything is loud and certain; the next, the familiar is softened, edges blurred, and even our footsteps sound different. This is the paradox of winter wisdom: cold can numb us, but it can also sharpen our awareness. In the hush of snowfall, we learn what Elijah learned in the cave—that God is not always in the wind or the fire, but sometimes in the thin, fragile silence that follows.

Think of your inner life as a frozen lake. From the surface, everything looks still, sealed, untouched. But beneath the ice, currents move, life stirs, and truth waits to rise. Some people only see the frozen crust and assume nothing is happening. Others sense the hidden depth and approach with reverence. The lake doesn’t change — only the eyes that behold it.

And into this winter landscape, today’s quote arrives like a crystalline truth held up to the light:

C.S. Lewis knew this well. Today philosophers call this “virtue epistemology,” but this perspective is as old as Plato and Aristotle. In The Chronicles of Narnia, winter is never just weather — it’s a spiritual condition. Some hear only the crack of ice; others hear the first hints of Aslan’s thaw. Perception becomes a doorway into transformation.

Let us reflect on what might be revealed if we stopped fearing the cold long enough to listen to what the silence is trying to teach us.

It's hard to believe January 1 is days away! I pray you all have a continued Merry Christmas until Epiphany on January 6. Then we can enjoy every day to the best of our abilities. Have a blessed week!

Every year children say they want to take music lessons, so they get an instrument for Christmas. Then reality sets in and they quit. Music and dance are performing arts requiring daily practice. That means 7 days a week. If parents are unwilling or unable to monitor a student's daily practice, I recommend they not sign up for lessons. Piano teachers endure this situation every year...students who won't practice, but because their parents bought an instrument, they are forced to take lessons. And they hate practicing.
Be sure your child will do the work before you spend money. It avoids family drama!
It's heartbreaking to see parents so disappointed or unhappy, and a child who is unhappy.
Performing arts require discipline for students and parents.
