The most dangerous body of water in your house might not be the pool...
This statistic is a heavy reminder that your backyard isn't the only risk. Toddlers and infants can easily get into trouble right inside your own home, in places you would least expect:
🛁 Bathtubs and Toilets
🪣 Cleaning or mopping buckets
🐾 Large pet water bowls
It takes hardly any time for a curious infant to tip forward into a small amount of liquid. Because they lack the upper body strength to pull themselves back up, even a couple of inches of water can become dangerous.
Drowning prevention starts with awareness at home and ends with real skills in the water. Get matched with one of our skilled instructors that come to you: https://www.sunsationalswimschool.com/

Crocodile tears during a swim lesson are usually just part of the process, not a sign that it's time to give up. ☀️
When your child cries during their first few lessons, it can be heartbreaking to watch. It's easy to think they're terrified and want to stop, but usually, those tears are just a normal reaction to a new teacher and a new routine.
Giving up too early actually teaches kids that the water is something to be afraid of, so if you stick with it and stay consistent, those tears will quickly turn into the confidence they need to be safe.

More adults at a pool party actually means fewer eyes on the water.
Crowded parties create a dangerous illusion of safety because everyone assumes someone else is watching the pool. But drowning is completely silent, and a child can slip under the surface unnoticed in seconds while adults are inches away socializing.
A few reminders that are always worth sharing:
💦 Drowning is often silent
💦 It can happen in less than a minute
💦 Most drowning incidents happen with adults nearby
Watching from a distance isn't enough. Before your next BBQ, assign one specific adult to be solely responsible for monitoring the pool.
