On Thursday morning, two fathers from families living together, and that had recently moved from Encinitas to San Marcos, were abducted on their way to work. It happened the same day the oldest child even received Student of the Year at his elementary school graduation in Encinitas. The fathers are the household breadwinners; their sudden disappearance has left two sisters living together with six children (ages 4–11) in shock and desperate need.
One of the moms is pregnant and was due Friday the 12th — she needs immediate support for herself and the newborn. Between medical needs, baby supplies, food, housing, utilities, and basic daily care for six young kids, this household is facing an unimaginable crisis.
What your donation will do:
Provide urgent baby and postpartum supplies (diapers, formula, clothing, breastfeeding/pumping supplies, hospital co-pays)
Cover immediate household essentials: groceries, toiletries, diapers for older children
Pay rent, utilities, and transportation while the family copes with lost income
Fund counseling, legal fees, and any immediate medical or childcare needs, Create a short-term safety net as investigators and authorities work on the case
Why this matters:
This family’s lives were changed in an instant. The children need security, stability, and basic care right now. The pregnant mom needs safe, reliable access to medical care and everything a newborn requires. Your contribution will directly support their survival and recovery during this crisis.

Celebrate JUNETEENTH at the Love City Heights Live weekly community open mic at Pop-Up Winona!
Friday, June 19, 2026
6PM to 9:30PM
This week’s spotlight guests:
Treat MI Don’t Mistreat MI - a black, woman-led organization helping families learn to advocate for their incarcerated loved ones struggling with mental illness.
Lisa Sanders & Brown Sugar -
When you look closely at the last 30 years of Southern California’s folk music scene, you’ll find one constant, soulful, and magnetically effervescent through line: the heartfelt artistry of Lisa Sanders. A Black Opry Review, San Diego Music Hall of Famer, and shape-shifting genre chameleon, Lisa has shared stages, co-created, and occasionally served as muse for artists like Bonnie Rait, Lucinda Williams, BB King, The Chicks, Sarah McLachlan, Mary Gauthier, Steve Poltz, and dozens more.
Lisa’s songs are an infectiously hopeful account of coming up Black, q***r, and folk at a time when both the country and the folk music industry are wrestling with what it means to honor the whole, unmasked, intersectional beauty of her identity and artistry.

Communities across North America are mobilizing in Cross-Border Days of Solidarity Against Rigged Trade. Please join us for the California cross-border action at:
Location: Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center; 1960 National Ave, San Diego, CA. 92113
Time: Saturday, June 27th; 11am PT
RSVP: daysofsolidarity.org
As the Trump administration and others push trade deals that put the interests of billionaires ahead of working people, family farmers, and the environment, we will:
— Stand up for workers, family farmers, and communities impacted by unfair trade;
— Reject the race-to-the-bottom that pits people across borders against each other;
— Build solidarity across movements for good jobs, environmental protection, and economic justice.
These Days of Solidarity come at a critical moment, as trade officials prepare to meet and consider changes to the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Together, we’re showing that our communities are united—and that we won’t accept trade rules that leave working people behind!
Endorsers include: Activist San Diego, California Trade Justice, Earth Democracy Issue Committee of WILPF US, LCLAA LA, LCLAA San Diego/Imperial Counties, Media Alliance, Oil and Gas Action Network, Peace Action, Racial Justice Coalition of San Diego, San Francisco Living Wage Coalition, Sierra Club San Diego, Espacio Migrante, People’s Movement for Peace and Justice, USW 675, Endangered Habitats League, Moana Nui, United Steelworkers Local 7600, and more!
We hope you’ll join us on June 27th at Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center!
