Spain: Coast to Coast Adventure 🇪🇸 06/21 - 06/30
BLOG POST FOR JUNE 23
Hola!
Our morning activity was a short trip to the Picasso Museum. It isn’t a huge museum, so we had a scavenger hunt challenge while walking around. Everyone had a list of works to find and needed to take pictures of those that they found. It was a super interesting museum and a great, chill way to spend the morning!
On the way back home we stopped at a local restaurant, La Pechá, for more tapas and mini sandwiches that are unique to Málaga.
For our afternoon activity we went to San Andrés beach for a surfing lesson. Itor and Antonio, our instructors, walked us through the steps of successfully surfing a wave. After our lesson we had the chance to play on boogie boards and later have some more beach time before coming back to the hotel to do a leadership activity with Fernanda, our mentor.
We ended the night by doing a local tradition in Málaga to celebrate “Día de San Juán” where the staff lit small branches of rosemary for each of us and we made a wish before dipping it into a fountain, a beautiful way to end our final day in Málaga!
Hasta mañana,
Neil and Henry

Guatemala - Children of the Maya and Global Health 🇬🇹 06-17 - 06-28
June 20 Blog Post:
'Today, we started our morning with breakfast before departing Home Base for the towns surrounding beautiful Lake Atitlán. After a pleasant and scenic three-hour drive through the Guatemalan highlands, we boarded a boat to cross the lake, taking in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and volcanoes along the way.
Upon arriving in San Juan, we explored the colorful local markets and visited a traditional weaving community , where we learned about the process of handcrafting cotton yarn and creating traditional Mayan textiles. It was fascinating to see the skill, patience, and cultural significance behind each piece of clothing. After our visit, we continued through the vibrant streets before enjoying lunch at a local café.
Following our boat ride back across the lake, we took time to reflect on the day’s experiences and everything we had learned about the local culture and traditions. Later, we visited another market, where students had the opportunity to purchase handmade jewelry, clothing, artwork, and other cultural treasures crafted by local artisans.
Back at Home Base, we enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by our wonderful local cooks. The evening ended with a special celebration for the birthdays of Zane, Briggs, and Lidia, complete with a piñata, cake, and plenty of laughter. As always, we wrapped up the night with our daily game of hacky sack and other group bonding activities.
It was a day full of cultural immersion, learning, and memorable experiences, and we are excited for tomorrow’s adventures.'
Thank you,
Cole, Avery, Scarlet, and Emma

Peru: Service Expedition in the Sacred Valley 🏔️ 06/19-07/02
High in the Peruvian Andes, our students experienced a day of cultural immersion and meaningful service. After being welcomed by community leaders with flower necklaces and traditional dances, they participated in the sacred Pago a la Tierra ceremony, honoring and giving thanks to the Earth. Students learned about medicinal herbs used to adapt to the altitude, enjoyed a traditional Peruvian meal, and then rolled up their sleeves to begin hands-on service projects, creating foundations for bathrooms and painting walls with natural pigments made from the earth itself. The group ended the day with a deeper appreciation for Peruvian culture and the power of working together. 🇵🇪
