Let's talk about why you freeze when it's time to speak Spanish.
One of the biggest breakthroughs I see in my students isn't better grammar or a larger vocabulary.
It's an identity shift.
Most learners think, "How do I translate this into Spanish?"
Confident speakers think, "How would a Spanish speaker say this?"
Those aren't the same question.
When you're constantly translating from English, speaking feels slow, stressful, and awkward.
But when you start thinking in Spanish, conversations become more natural. You stop searching for the perfect translation and start focusing on communication.
That's when confidence grows.
If you've been studying Spanish for a while but still struggle to speak, you may not need more Spanish.
You may need more practice using the Spanish you already know.
If you're eady to start speaking more confidently...

Speaking Spanish in real convos feels very different from using Spanish in an app.
The app gap is real.
And it's not because you're bad at Spanish.
It's because scripted dialogues and multiple-choice exercises don't teach you how to respond in the moment when a real person asks you an unexpected question.
Trust me, you understand more Spanish than you think.
The challenge is turning that understanding into actual conversation.
So what's your biggest fear when speaking Spanish with a native speaker?
Forgetting words? Freezing up? Worrying about mistakes?

Your Spanish isn’t non-existent.
You're just too mired in the mud to speak it.
You understand what a native speaker is saying, and you know how you want to respond.
Yet nothing comes out.
You may think this means you need to cram more vocab.
But, actually, you already know enough Spanish words to respond.
The real issue is that your brain is trying to build a perfect sentence before speaking.
By stopping speaking completely, you're training your brain to always freeze.
Real fluency is learning how to push on anyway and speak imperfectly but fluidly.

The Spanish you think you need for travel isn’t what you actually use.
I thought I needed Spanish for food and basic chit chat. That part was easy.
What caught me off guard was going to a pharmacy after hiking the Inca Trail.
My feet were covered in blisters, and I had no idea how to ask for what I actually needed.
I knew venda, but I needed a curita. 🩹
And I couldn’t explain it.
That moment stuck with me more than anything else from that trip.
Because that’s what real Spanish looks like.
Being able to handle real-life, stressful situations when they happen.
