We are grateful to Congressman Juan Vargas and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration for their support in providing 60 full scholarships for high school students in California's 52nd Congressional District to participate in Discover UC San Diego's Summer 2027 residential program.

This investment expands access to immersive STEM education and space-focused learning opportunities for students. During the 36-day program, scholarship recipients will complete two university-level courses, earn 6–8 quarter units of UC San Diego.

Through this investment, more students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning, discover pathways in science and engineering, and gain the skills and confidence to pursue their future goals.

We had a great time connecting with professionals, partners, and future students at the West Coast Symposium on Addictive Disorders!

Our Healthcare Education team represented UC San Diego Extended Studies' ASCEND and Substance Use Disorder Counseling (SUDC) programs, sharing educational opportunities that support the growing behavioral health workforce.

A special thank you to our partners at the CADTP for helping make the conference experience even more memorable. We enjoyed connecting with attendees and having meaningful conversations about education, recovery, and community impact.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table. We look forward to staying in touch!

🌟 We have some exciting news to share!

Please join us in congratulating Kokoro Igawa — one of our International Programs Cultural Ambassadors — on winning the 2026 Triton Student Employee of the Year Award from the UC San Diego Student Employment Office! 🎉

Kokoro, an international student from Japan, has been part of our Extended Studies family since 2023. She was recognized in the category of Communication & Digital Fluency, and it's easy to see why — her warmth, professionalism, and passion for connecting students to international experiences make her an invaluable part of our team.

This June, she'll walk across the stage with a double major in Sociology and History. We couldn't be prouder. Congratulations, Kokoro! 💙💛
