“I told a professor once that I wanted to help heal the wounds in our community. I’ve been privileged to spend my career doing exactly that. Now, I help my students do the same.”

Dr. Doug Haldeman has spent over 45 years at the intersection of psychology and social justice. What began as a personal search for safety evolved into a global mission of advocacy. A journey that has taken him across the world to provide vital humanitarian relief to the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether he is on the ground in refugee camps or publishing research that challenges systemic inequality, his focus remains the same: giving a voice to those who have been silenced and providing healing for marginalized communities.

A leader who has traveled the globe to help those in need, Dr. Haldeman brings that same heart for advocacy to every student he mentors at National University. As a Professor in our PsyD program, he does more than teach clinical theory; he empowers his students to lead with the same empathy and courage he has shown throughout his career.

This , we’re honored to celebrate Dr. Haldeman’s lifelong commitment to justice and mentoring the next generation of leaders.

“Having learning disabilities doesn’t mean you can’t achieve your goals.”

This Learning Disability Week, we’re celebrating Tori V. (MAMFT) and the strength it takes to believe in yourself. Even in the face of doubt, she believed in what was possible, graduating with distinction and proving to herself that she could. Her story is a powerful reminder that there’s no one way to succeed. Every way of learning belongs here, and your voice, perspective, and experiences make this community stronger. We stand with you, and we will always be committed to creating a space where you can thrive.
