🌈In honor of Pride Month, Smuin Center for Dance is spotlighting LGBTQIA+ Dance Companies in the Bay Area! Next up is Sean Dorsey Dance .

Sean Dorsey is a San Francisco-based choreographer, dancer, writer, teaching artist and cultural activist. His work is simultaneously ethereal and grounded. ✨Sean Dorsey Dance is in the studio NOW creating a new show: WE CHOOSE EACH OTHER is a love letter and a balm that responds to this brutal time in America. The work will premiere in San Francisco in April 2027 before launching a national tour — and asks: How do we activate collective care while living through grief, harm, and trauma? The project invites audiences and communities into spaces of connection, healing, and shared resilience.

We had a great time this week with Participation Day, a chance for each dancer’s grown up to join class. At Smuin Center for Dance, we prioritize small class sizes for more individual attention to better each dancer’s growth.
