Over the past decade, University of California, Berkeley professor Juana María Rodríguez has led a project with her students to expand LGBTQ+ representation on Wikipedia through a partnership with Wiki Education, focusing on q***r history.
Along the way, students have edited hundreds of articles, created dozens more, and contributed work that has reached tens of millions of readers.
Each article follows Wikipedia’s standards: neutral tone, verifiable sources, and clear citations. Students compile annotated bibliographies and rely on high-quality research to support their contributions.
