With hot temperatures in summer, it's easy to break a sweat. During this process, the body not only loses fluids but also important electrolytes like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. These minerals are crucial for maintaining fluid balance and supporting the function of our cells, muscles, and nerves. It's important to not only drink enough fluids on hot days, but also to replenish our mineral reserves to stay energized even in high heat.

Foods high in electrolytes include:
- Leafy greens: Spinach, kale, and Swiss chard are rich in magnesium and calcium.
Coconut water: It's high in potassium and sodium and is a refreshing beverage to quench your thirst. It is easy to add to smoothies for some
Avocado: Provides potassium and magnesium.
- Yogurt: A good source of calcium and sodium, and as a cold cucumber yogurt soup, it's a refreshing way to replenish your fluid balance.

Don't forget to drink enough water and enjoy the sunny days!

First the fish, then the potatoes - doesn't it matter what you eat first? The main thing is that it's healthy, right? Not quite!

In fact, studies have shown that the order of meals has a decisive influence on blood sugar levels. Test subjects who ate proteins and fats first, followed by the carbohydrate portion, had lower blood glucose and insulin levels than study participants who ate the meal in the reverse order. The researchers are also certain that the order (protein, fat, and then carbohydrate) also improved insulin sensitivity. In addition, the participants had a longer lasting feeling of satiety. So just give it a try!

Many everyday foods contain hidden sugar, often without us even realizing it. They can show up in surprising places like ready-made meals, “fat-free” products, salad dressings, sauces, flavored yogurts, granola bars, and even so-called “healthy” drinks. These added sugars can quickly add up throughout the day and can lead to blood sugar imbalances, increased sugar cravings, and energy crashes.

At Metabolic Balance, we focus on a personalized nutrition plan designed to stabilize blood sugar, reduce hidden sugar intake, and support your body’s natural ability to regulate metabolism. Small daily changes can make a meaningful impact on how you feel, your energy levels, and your long-term health.

As we spend more time outdoors this summer, don't forget one of the most important wellness habits: protecting your skin.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, and excessive UV exposure can contribute to premature aging and long-term skin damage. Fortunately, a few simple habits can make a big difference:

-Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily (at least SPF 30)
-Wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses
-Avoid long periods of direct sun during peak sunlight hours
-Reapply sunscreen regularly (every 2 hours) when outdoors

Taking care of your health means caring for your entire body—including your skin.
Enjoy the sunshine, stay active, and make sun protection part of your daily wellness routine!
