In refined leatherwork, edge finishing is more than just putting dye on an edge. We use specialized tools to transform multiple layers of leather into a single, unified edge—dense, compact, and seamless to the eye and touch.

Heat and pressure are carefully applied to compress and transform the leather fibers. With each pass, the edge becomes smoother, stronger, and more consistent until the layers visually disappear.

A properly burnished edge doesn’t simply look beautiful—it is a hallmark of craftsmanship, durability, and attention to detail.

Gordon graduated in Spring 2024. He describes his time at the atelier as magical.

Amélie brings her own depth to the atelier. She teaches with patience and precision, holding students to the same standard Béatrice set.

Two instructors means more time at each bench. More hands guiding yours. More eyes catching the small errors before they become habits.

By Level 2, students move from flat pieces to three-dimensional construction. This zip pouch was drafted from the student's own pattern, cut from a single hide, and assembled entirely by hand.

The gusset is set. The handles are riveted. The edge is burnished to a mirror finish.

Every decision in this bag was the student's. That is the point.
