Blackened chicken over jasmine rice with summer vegetables and cajun sauce. Made by our students. Served with love.

This is part of LLA's 6-week Summer Workforce Program, where students are placed in paid employment or internships β€” and today, the kitchen is their workplace and Chef Taj is their boss.

Pop-up lunches are HERE, Treasure Island! Tues–Fri, hot meals until we run out. Come find us. LLA β™‘

Proud to share one of the highlights of our year at Life Learning Academy! πŸ™Œ

This spring, The Swig Company welcomed our Culinary Arts students to the Spring Market at the historic Mills Building in San Francisco. Our students arrived with products they had created, manufactured, and marketed themselves: Garlic & Herbs and Roast Rub spice blends, Strawberry Lemon Tart and Spicy Tomato jams, and honey harvested from the campus beehives that The Swig Company sponsors right here on Treasure Island. 🍯

We are so grateful to The Swig Company for their generous support of Life Learning Academy and for going the extra mile to give our students something truly meaningful: a real stage, a real customer, and a genuine vote of confidence in their potential. Thank you for investing in the next generation of San Francisco's workforce.

This week, Life Learning Academy celebrated 14 seniors who walked across that stage and into their next chapter. πŸŽ“βœ¨

These graduates showed up every single day, in the classroom and beyond, building skills, finding their voices, and proving what is possible when young people have the support, space, and community they deserve.

We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of them. Congratulations, Class of 2026. The world is ready for you.

Once an LLA student, always LLA family. 🧑

On May 2nd, our alumni came home for tacos, laughter, a community give-away, and a raffle that included a Draymond Green-signed Warriors jersey.

This community doesn't just graduate; it stays connected, grows stronger, and keeps showing up for each other.

We are so proud of every single one of you.

This week, we celebrate the people who show up every single day with patience, creativity, and unwavering belief in our students. 🌟

At Life Learning Academy, our teachers don't just teach subjects. They build relationships, hold space for the whole person, and meet young people exactly where they are.

They create classrooms where a student can discover their voice, take creative risks, and grow into who they are meant to be. That kind of teaching changes lives.

To every teacher at LLA: thank you. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are so grateful for everything you give to this community. πŸ’›

At Life Learning Academy's Exhibition of Learning, every class showcased the work, growth, and brilliance they've built this semester. Students led the presentations themselves, standing up to share what they've learned and what it means to them. And in one remarkable moment, a class premiered an original stop-motion film, a testament to the creativity that thrives when young people are given the space and support to tell their own stories.

This is what education looks like when it centers the whole person. Not just grades, but voice. Not just content, but confidence.

We are so proud of every student who stepped up on April 30th. This community shows us every day what is possible.

What does it mean to lead? For five LLA students, the answer came somewhere between the trees, under the open sky, and in the quiet confidence that comes from learning you can handle whatever the wilderness throws at you. 🌲

Through LLA’s Outdoor Leadership Enrichment Program, these young people spent three days building wilderness survival skills, earning CPR certification, and discovering a deeper connection to the natural world around them.

🌟A heartfelt thank you to The Joseph & Vera Long Foundation for making this experience possible for our students. 🌟

πŸ›οΈ Real advocacy starts in the classroom.

We're so proud to share that our Generation Citizen teacher, Liz Karn, was recently selected as a National Civic Forum Fellow by the Democratic Knowledge Project at Harvard's Graduate School of Education!

Liz had the honor of attending National Civic Learning Week, hosted by iCivics, joining educators from across the country working to strengthen civic education and constitutional democracy nationwide.

Every day at LLA, Liz guides our students as they learn to research, organize, and advocate on issues that directly affect their lives and communities, from housing affordability to services for transition-age youth. Through Generation Citizen's action civics curriculum, students aren't studying democracy in the abstract. They're doing the work. Being recognized at the national level reaffirms that when we trust young people with real civic power, the results speak for themselves.

A big thank you to Generation Citizen for nominating Liz and to the Stuart Foundation, whose funding made her trip possible.
National recognition follows when students and teachers build something real together. Congratulations, Liz! πŸ‘
