At the Nov. 8, 2021 CAC meeting, we held our first “Innovation Showcase”. We invited outside vendors to present their solutions for improving civic engagement and supporting local businesses in cities across California and the United States.

OpenCounter, https://opencounter.com/, develops permitting and licensing software to streamline the process for citizens and save staff time at City Hall. They specialize in the pre-permit phase. This helps residents and businesses answer questions and guides them to the services they need.

Free Compost Giveaway Event: Do know what happensto yard trimmings material? Yard trimmings get processed along with otherorganics into rich compost that improves soil structure and aeration,enriches soil with nutrients, and reduces pollutants all while diverting wastefrom landfills. The City ishosting its first self-service compost giveaway event forSanta Clara residents on Sunday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to12 p.m. at the City’s corporation yard located at 1700 WalshAve. Residents must provide a current utilitybill and/or personal identification to verifyeligibility. Compost will be self-served residents must bring theirown shovel and sturdy container (i.e. 5-gallonbucket), fill their container, and load their container into theirvehicle. Maximum of 30 gallons per household. Compost will beavailable while limited supplies last. Residents andemployees must wear a face covering while on City property andmaintain physical distancing. The event is subject State and County PublicHealth orders and guidelines.
