When a client can’t access the “perfect” shape... what do you do? 👇
In our Teacher Training Program, we teach our students to become Movement Detectives, NOT directors, NOT instructors. 🕵️♀️🔍
Instead of forcing a body into a shape, we ask questions.
For challenges with the Side Bend, we might ask:
▫️Is there enough dynamic stability in the lateral motion?
▫️Is the breath being restricted or able to assist the movement?
▫️Are they missing key foundational support?
▫️Is this simply their available range today?
One person may go all the way into a picture perfect Side Bend. Another may only start to unweight the hips. Both versions are successful as long the client is working within their own structure, strength, and ability.
Pilates isn’t about creating identical shapes. It’s about helping each client discover better movement, more options, and greater confidence and understanding in their own body.
The wobbles, the adjustments, and the “Ohhh!” moments are where the deepest learning happens.
🚫 STOP memorizing cues and start learning how to truly teach the body in front of you. ✨
Applications are open for our next Teacher Training and Bridging/Mentorship Programs.🙌
📍Next session begins July 11th.

🚨Precision in Pilates limits movement 🚨
Intensive focus on precision does a disservice to our clients.
Often it causes teacher and client to unintentionally shift from simply working stability within the exercises to internalizing a hypercontrol which stops movement altogether.
We’ve noticed a growing focus in the Pilates world, an intense focus on:
▫️slow
▫️controlled
▫️extremely precise movement
Teachers have forgotten the most important element of ✨DYNAMIC STABILITY✨
Once a client has mastered the choreography it’s time to change the focus.
In our newest YouTube Teaching Exploration, we’re diving into this missing link! 👈
True Pilates isn’t about becoming rigid or bracing or performing. It’s about finding stability through movement, flow, rhythm, and transition. After all, real life doesn’t happen in slow, controlled motion!
🎥 In this video, we explore:
🔹 Dynamic stability vs. static bracing
🔹 How over-controlling can limit client progress
🔹 Practical cueing strategies to bring flow back into your teaching
Whether you’re a teacher refining your eye or a student looking for a more authentic Pilates experience, this one’s for you.

Are You Ready to Truly See the Body in Front of You? 🕵️♀️✨
One of the most rewarding parts of being a “Movement Detective” is that moment when the guesswork stops and the connection clicks. We had a beautiful “Aha!” moment in the studio this week that perfectly illustrates the bridge between functional movement and the Pilates apparatus.
The Story: A client was struggling to maintain their “grounded” center once we picked up the pace. They had the choreography down, but as the tempo increased, the stability started to leak. They felt “floaty” and disconnected.
The Shift: Instead of just repeating the Pilates move, we stepped into some work with functional exercises. We gave them a specific functional tool—a movement designed to isolate the grounding sensation they were missing. It was a new tool for their toolbox, and you could see the lightbulb go off.
The Result: When they headed back to finish up the session and see how things had changed they didn’t just know the move—they felt the connection. They were able to keep the pace and the control because they knew exactly what it felt like to stay grounded in their own body.
May 16th: The Functional Training Workshop 🛠️🩰
This is exactly what our upcoming Spring Workshop, “Functional Training in Pilates,” is all about. We aren’t interested in “one-size-fits-all” cues.
We want to give you:
• Practical Application: How to choose a functional exercise that bridges the gap for your specific client.
• The “Why” and the “How”: Identifying where stability is leaking and how to plug the hole.
• Versatile Tools: A library of movements that can be adapted for athletes, seniors, or clients returning from injury.
There is no one way to teach a body, but there is always a way to help a client find their own power.
Join us! Whether you are here in LA, joining us live on Zoom, or catching the recording later, this workshop will change how you look at your sessions.

The Gold Standard: Why the Apparatus Matters from Day 1 ⚙️✨
Take a look around our studio and you’ll see the unmistakable gleam of
As a proud Gratz Teacher Training Partner, we don’t just use this equipment because of its history—we use it because it is an essential part of the “Movement Detective” toolkit.
For our students, understanding the relationship between the body and the apparatus is where the real mastery begins.
The Feedback Loop
In the Pilates Method, the springs aren’t just there for resistance; they are there to feed into the body.
• Support: The springs meet you where you are, providing a foundation to move from.
• Feedback: They tell the truth. If a movement is disconnected, the spring will let you know.
• Dynamic Stability: This is the heartbeat of the work. The apparatus provides the feedback needed to find stability within movement, rather than just holding a static position.
Never Feeling “Lost” in a Move
When a student or client understands how to connect to the Gratz apparatus, they never have to wonder “how to make something happen” or feel lost in the middle of an exercise. The spring provides the roadmap. It prevents the body from “guessing” and replaces it with a deep, visceral connection to the center.
Teaching the “Why” and the “How”
For us, it is vital that our Teacher Training students understand this from Day 1.
We aren’t just teaching them to “do” Pilates; we are teaching them to understand the why behind every spring setting and the how of teaching the specific body in front of them.
No matter where their teaching journey takes them, they carry this knowledge of support and feedback with them.
They become teachers who don’t just look for “correct” shapes, but for deep, functional connections.
Are you ready to learn and join our community?
Our Spring/Summer Teacher Training program begins June 6th. Come discover the power of the traditional method and the apparatus that brings it to life.

The Countdown is ON: Mastering the Shoulder Girdle 🛠️✨
We are officially counting down the days to our May 16th Spring Workshop: Functional Training in Pilates! 🗓️
One topic we are particularly excited to dive into is the complex relationship between shoulder mobility and stability.
This conversation was sparked recently in the studio with one of our Teacher Training students as she practiced the Tendon Stretch on the Reformer. Her mobility was “off the charts,” but she was missing the essential stability needed to support that range.
How do we find that support? 🕵️♀️
When a client (or student!) has excessive mobility, they often struggle to find the proper body part activation. We don’t just tell them to “fix it”; we look for functional tools to isolate the movement and build a connection.
• Isolate the Movement: We focus on specific shoulder orientations to help the brain understand the proper path.
• Building Blocks: These functional exercises act as tools that the client can then apply back to the Pilates apparatus.
• Reintegration: Once the connection is felt, we bring it back into the Pilates practice—like the Tendon Stretch or Roll Up—so the movement happens seamlessly and without restriction.
Beyond the Studio Walls 🌍
The goal is self-efficacy. We want to give our clients the tools to “feel” what needs to happen in their bodies so they can take that confidence out of the studio and into their daily lives. Whether it’s catching themselves from a trip or simply moving with ease, functional training provides the ownership and autonomy they need.
Are you ready to level up your “Movement Detective” skills? 🧐
Join us in LA, join us virtually, or grab the recording later—but don’t miss out! We are so excited to share these tools and help you support your clients in a deeper, more integrated way.

Huge News for Our Students & Grads! 🥁✨
We are so excited to share that a massive project—is almost complete! Our 2 Pilates Chicks Teacher Training Exercise Library is nearly finished.
We have officially captured the Mat, Reformer, and Cadillac, and now we are wrapping up the Wunda Chair!
Why is this such a game-changer? In our 20th year of training teachers, we wanted to create a permanent “home base” for our community. This library isn’t just a quick video reference; it is a deep-dive resource where our students and graduates can:
• Hear the Cues: Revisit the specific language that helps a movement “click” for a client.
• See the Choreography: Refresh your memory on the traditional transitions and setups.
• Lifetime Access: This library is yours for your entire teaching journey—whenever you need a “Movement Detective” moment, we are there with you.
We believe in supporting our teachers long after they finish their hours. This library is our gift to the next generation of Pilates professionals, ensuring you always have the tools to teach with confidence and precision.
