Two years ago, I told my students that I had finally put the fighter inside me to rest.
After a lifetime of learning through competition, discipline, victories, and setbacks, I felt it was time to make room for something greater. As I approached a new chapter in life, I believed I was preparing to become a Master of what I already knew. I am a few years away from the Coral Belt. I needed to be ready for it.
What I didnβt know was that life had another lesson waiting for me.
Recently, I have been called to grow in ways I never expected. I have gained new skills, new perspectives, and a deeper understanding of people, especially youth, their struggles, their strengths, and the unseen battles many carry every day.
These lessons are making me a better person, a better father, and ultimately a better teacher.
My degree in Physical Education helped shape the coach I became. This new journey is shaping the mentor I always hoped to be, but wasnβt yet ready for.
From understanding behavior and educational challenges to trauma-informed care and human development, I can feel a new version of myself emerging.
Professor Vieira 2.0 is in the making.
Because learning never ends. And sometimes the most important graduation is not from a school, but from an older version of yourself.
