Our annual MESA Day was one month ago!

We’re still thinking about all the moments that made this day so special. What brought it to life wasn’t just the event itself, but you, our MESA students, educators, families, and community partners!

Thank you for showing up and making this a day to remember!

MESA student success is grounded in community.

It starts with students building, testing, and improving their ideas with support from teachers, directors, and staff.

Then the broader community shows up. Volunteers arrive at 7:00 am on a Saturday. Judges spend hours reviewing student work before and during the event. Families, partners, community members, and leaders make time to see students’ ideas in action.

For students, that kind of support tells them their ideas are worth listening to and that they belong in the rooms where STEM happens.

MESA is more than a program. It is a community in action.

See our Capstone Presentations in action!

On May 16th, our Transfer Prep students presented the capstone projects they developed this year with guidance from the Clean Energy Institute.

During this first year of the program, students showed us just how much they are capable of. We’re excited to see the program continue to grow and to support MESA students as they use STEM to make a difference in their communities.

CBC MESA is creating meaningful pathways for students through campus visits, with five trips during the 2025–2026 academic year to universities such as WSU, UW, CWU, and EWU.

With help from the EWU MESA team, students experienced hands-on STEM activities, including a workshop on handprint microbes and a soap‑making activity. In addition to a campus tour, students also visited the Robotics and Mechanical Engineering Technology labs, guided by EWU professor Dr. Jennifer Leaf.

They also had the opportunity to connect with CBC MESA alumni now thriving at EWU, making this visit extra meaningful. We look forward to seeing how CBC MESA continues to explore college pathways and help students succeed in higher education!

Today was Washington MESA Day, and it was a powerful celebration of creativity, collaboration, and STEM!

Students from across the state came together to showcase a year of hands-on learning, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving through their community-focused projects.

From pitching human-centered design solutions to cheering each other on, this day reflects what MESA is all about: community and collective impact. Seeing so many smiling faces says it all!

Thank you to Green River College for hosting, and to the amazing MESA alumni who returned to volunteer and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.

MESA Day is truly a team effort and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved!

Shoutout to Samaria Abraham, our current Washington MESA student employee and proud Seattle MESA alum!

From staying involved with MESA in high school to now supporting students on their own STEM journeys, Samaria’s story shows just how impactful the MESA community can be. Whether it’s academic guidance, mentorship, or a strong network, MESA is there every step of the way to give students the confidence they need to thrive at a four-year university.
