I spent so much time preparing for baby that I barely thought about recovering from surgery myself.
These are the things that genuinely made my C-section recovery easier.

What would you add?

POV: You’re doing everything possible to survive car rides with a baby. 🚗👶🏻These are some of the things that keep me sane during solo car rides with my baby. From baby monitor to distraction toys, these have become our “don’t leave the house without it” ✌️

What is one thing that ALWAYS helps your baby in the car? 👇

Books to inspire and books that are fun and open windows to new perspectives 👉🏼👉🏼. A child that likes BLING 🔅and sparkles, a boy that has two dads👨‍👨‍👧, a boy that always makes mistakes, a girl who dreams invites you to write a book, a boy who teaches us what Salam Alaikum is, and crayons that have feelings.

For the love of math🔢. I starting disliking math when I reached 3rd grade and had to memorize multiplication facts. It went downhill from there. Not that I didn’t do well in math, but I feel I never understood math. I’m hoping my daughter has a positive experience with math and numbers. So far she involves mathematical concepts in her play, we all do! I try to make the connections very explicit when we cook, play store, restaurant, or build: how many do we need? How many more? Do you need more or less? Etc. She’s good at one-to-one correspondence already and she is excited about associating symbols (numbers) to quantities. This is something she was doing by herself one morning. She was teaching me the “right” way to trace the numbers using two fingers.

Pantry art! I was cleaning the pantry and found some cool stuff she could collage with. She is reaaallly into it! Use a piece of cardboard or cut a side of a cereal box, paper will be too flimsy.
*Wanted to start 2022 with a organized pantry, who’s with me?

Re-use, re-purpose, re-imagine. I simply separated the magnetic tiles we had and told her we’re going to build a haunted house together. This is what we built, no model, just working together and talking (didn’t record, because I’ve been really appreciating our time together). She wanted to add some scary bats and I added the little pumpkins. It is now home to the spider we made with beads.

Reutilizar, reutilizar, reinventar.

Scaffolding towards independence 💪🏼. She likes joining in on household chores. I never make her, it’s just something she sees us do and naturally joins. She won’t fold ALL he clothes, as her attention span is still of a 3.5 year old! But she’s managed to be able to fold her clothes successfully and know where everything goes. The other day she noticed the dirty clothes rack was full, so she asked if she could fill the washer! She did and then I showed her how to run it, when it was over she transferred everything to the dryer! Learning happens all the time folks, let your kiddos join.
