What better way to enjoy a warm day than with water play and frozen apple juice popsicles alongside our Head of School, Ben?

The children at Stepping Stones spent the day exploring, discovering, and creating through hands on water experiences. As they engaged with Ben during water play, they experimented with how their hands and feet move water, explored buckets, water tables, tanks, and splash pads, and delighted in the opportunity to splash Ben along the way.

These joyful moments supported curiosity, problem solving, and sensory exploration while encouraging social interaction and active learning. Through play, our students continued to develop critical minds and capable hands, discovering how water moves, pours, splashes, and flows while building confidence, creativity, and connections with their school community. 💦🍎☀️

Our Infant and Toddler cohort had the chance to explore our campus to find treasures - just as young children would do. They found some really interesting items.

Today we focus on our Early Childhood cohort, who are currently immersed in the Practical Life course. Adult learners have the opportunity to practice with the materials that they will be presenting to the children in their own classrooms. The Practical Life work allows the children to use real objects and tools to support learning how to pour, prepare and serve food, tie laces, and sew. There are many other benefits to the skills and concepts learned through Practical Life. As Dr. Montessori stated, "The objects that are used for practical life ...are objects used where a child lives and which he sees employed in his own home, but they are especially made to a size that he can use. "

Student Celebration 🎉

We are thrilled to celebrate Matteo’s latest achievement!

Matteo has been accepted into the prestigious SPARC Advanced Robotics Program at the Maryland Robotics Center at University of Maryland and has been awarded a scholarship to attend. This summer, he will spend three weeks at the university’s A. James Clark School of Engineering learning how to design soft medical robotics under the leadership of Dr. Ryan Sochol.

We are also proud to share that Matteo received the Socratic Award during the MUS Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 29, an honor that may have helped strengthen his application. When program staff asked whether he was genuinely interested in this specialized field given his many pursuits—including Botball, rocketry, and aerospace—his answer was simple: he wanted to learn something completely new that connected multiple scientific disciplines.

Matteo’s willingness to challenge himself, explore new ideas, and pursue learning across multiple fields is what makes this opportunity especially meaningful. We are excited to see how he grows through this experience and look forward to following his journey this summer.

As we celebrated the final week of school, our Lower School and UE students enjoyed a wonderful week filled with learning, laughter, and special memories.

From Moving Up Ceremonies and the UE Academic Showcase to volcano experiments, exploring different cultures and traditions, sharing lunch with Middle School students, water play, and fun in the sun, there was no shortage of excitement and discovery.

Thank you to our students for an amazing year and to our families for your continued support and partnership. We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and memorable summer.

Congratulations to our 8th graders on their graduation. Last week they celebrated this important milestone, and now they are officially on their way to 9th grade.

Serving as your school nurse has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. This recognition reflects not only my work, but the collective commitment of our students, families, faculty, and staff to creating a healthy, safe, and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

Our annual 8th Grade Boat Race was a success today! Congratulations to our winners: Madeleine, Luz, and Aaral! 🏆🚣

We also celebrated four students who share the same birthday, enjoyed a visit from the Kona Ice truck, and wrapped up the day with a pool party for our middle and high school students. What a fun and memorable day for all of our MUS students! ☀️🎉🍧🏊‍♂️

A heartfelt thank you to our BFA and all of the wonderful volunteers who organized such a fantastic Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! Your time, creativity, and generosity made our teachers and staff feel truly celebrated.

A special thank you as well to all of the families who took the time to send thoughtful gifts, cards, notes, and words of encouragement. Your kindness means so much and helped make the week extra special.
