Nickajack PTA

Congratulations to Nisheena Clemons on her selection by National PTA as a Healthy Minds Fellow! In this year-long program, Fellows shape PTA's Healthy Minds initiatives and build mental health expertise in school communities.

Nisheena hit the ground running at the start of 2026. At National PTA headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, she connected with other Fellows from across the country, learning about the work they are leading in their local PTAs. She also dissected the Healthy Minds initiative, explored how to bring it to life at the local level, and was trained to facilitate mental health workshops for state PTAs nationwide.

She has already led a workshop in New Mexico for school leaders and PTA leaders, with Georgia next on the calendar. Her goal in the fellowship is to destigmatize mental health and help the adults supporting our students prioritize student mental health by providing them with information and resources.

This weekend, Mrs. Hamburg and volunteers from Love Atlanta at Passion City Church transformed the Nickajack Garden. They cleared out weeds, rebuilt garden beds, and prepared the soil for planting. We can’t wait to see our new garden grow when we return to school in August! Thank you Mrs. Hamburg and Love Atlanta for braving the heat and making a difference at Nickajack!

One last treat for our teachers before they left for summer break! Thank you to PTA sponsor .southcobb.i285 for providing breakfast for our incredible team of teachers this morning!
