To wrap up the school year, we celebrated our eighth graders at the Middle School Awards and Stepping Up Ceremony in Founders Theatre.

Students were recognized for academic achievement, leadership, and community spirit as they marked the close of their Middle School journey and prepared to transition to Upper School. It was a warm, joyful send‑off for a remarkable class — we can’t wait to welcome these students as Freshman Dragons this August. Enjoy a wonderful summer, and congratulations to our newest Upper School members!

The Dance Spring Term team, led by Mark Rickard and Tonya Ballman‑Lakewolf, presented exhilarating performances last week after weeks of rehearsal.

Students mastered a range of styles — Bollywood (with guest instructor Devika Gates), Latin, Bachata, modern, and more — and then performed for Lower School classes, who closed the show by asking the dancers questions, and later for an Upper School audience in Founders Theatre.

Congratulations to the dancers and instructors for a vibrant celebration of movement and collaboration.

Students in the Spring Out term spent a week exploring Central Washington and local waterways, camping at Banks Lake and paddling the Little Spokane — floating from Glen Tana to SGS and from SGS to the confluence takeout near the Spokane River.

They also devoted a day to mentoring sixth graders during 6th Grade Theme Day, assisting with the River Cleanup project. Congratulations to the Spring Out crew for modeling leadership, stewardship, and fearless exploration!

On Sunday, May 31, Saint George’s celebrated the Class of 2026 with a heartwarming commencement ceremony on Grad Lawn. Under blue skies and beside the Little Spokane River, graduates received their diplomas amid cheers from family, faculty, and coaches.

The ceremony honored students’ dedication, sense of community, and their many achievements — and sent them off with our pride and best wishes. Class of 2026, we know you will carry your SGS experience into the world and do remarkable things!

This year’s Middle School Genius Hour presentations were full of innovation, artistic talent, and hard‑won learning. Students shared five months of work, demonstrating curiosity, research, and polished final projects.

Congratulations to Regan Thomas on being named one of three finalists for the Region Girls High School Athlete of the Year at the Spokane Youth Sports Awards!

This red-carpet, ESPY-style event celebrates the most outstanding athletes, coaches, and teams from across the Spokane region. We are proud to see Regan recognized among the area's best!

Last Friday the fifth-grade class hosted their annual Art Exhibition Capstone, welcoming friends, family and fellow LS students to explore a diverse showcase—from digital pieces and embroidery to sketches and paintings. Students led visitors through their creative processes, sharing journals that detailed their thinking, iterations, and artistic growth over the year.

Last week our sixth graders, led by MS teachers Brad Kirsch and Heidi Schillinger, completed a two-day, one-night field trip that capped off their unit on the watershed, salmon and trout life cycles, along with Nez Perce history and culture.

Students visited the Nez Perce National Historic Park, Spalding Mission and Museum, Ft. Lapwai, Tolo Lake, White Bird Canyon, the “Heart of the Monster” in Kamiah, Dworshak Hatchery and Dam, and Lower Granite Dam. They had dinner and spent the night in the Wa-a’yas Community Center gymnasium in Kamiah, Idaho.

This place-based, hands-on experience gave our sixth graders direct encounters with the land, waterways, and stories they studied—sparking deeper understanding, respect, and curiosity. The lessons and wisdom they gained on this trip will stay with them for years to come.

Last Friday, the 5th grade class completed their Lower School journey by crossing the bridge into Middle School and taking part in a moving recognition ceremony.

After students crossed over, the entire Middle School greeted them with warm applause and welcomes, celebrating this milestone as they join the next chapter of their academic lives. Congratulations to our new middle schoolers!

The Class of 1976 celebrated their 50th graduation anniversary with a weekend of events that culminated in a brunch at the Davenport House on graduation Sunday and a campus tour. Alumni then followed the bagpipers onto Graduation Lawn to lead the faculty procession, helping kick off the Class of 2026 commencement ceremonies.
