Juneteenth is coming up on June 19. On that day in 1865, over 250,000 enslaved Black people in Texas were informed that the Civil War was won months earlier and they were finally free. Since then, June 19 has been celebrated as Juneteenth. Check out the National Museum of African American History & Culture’s Juneteenth Reading list:
