Did you this could by why your child is having behavioral issues? They are getting mentally fatigued by all the stimuli in the environment.
Many autistic people report being able to hear electricity as a constant, high-pitched hum from electrical currents, appliances, and fluorescent lighting because the neurodivergent brain often lacks the ability to filter out background noises, allowing individuals to perceive extremely high frequencies and vibrations that others cannot.
This occurs due to hyperacusis, where everyday sounds are perceived as much louder, sharper, or even physically painful, combined with a neurological gating deficit in which the autistic brain shows reduced suppression of early auditory brain waves (such as the P50 and N1 components), meaning the brain treats the sound of a refrigerator, wall charger, or wiring with the same priority as direct speech instead of habituating to and ignoring constant, non-threatening background input.
The physics behind it includes standard Alternating Current (AC) operating at 50 to 60 Hz that creates low-frequency vibrations, along with coil whine from transformers and inductors in chargers and electronics (often above 15 kHz), fluorescent ballasts that buzz and degrade over time, and capacitor squeal from deteriorating components in TVs, monitors, and appliances emitting sounds around 18-20 kHz—frequencies that many autistic individuals retain heightened sensitivity to well into adulthood.
Without automatic habituation, the autistic brain consciously processes these overlapping electronic noises, which demands immense cognitive energy and can lead to rapid fatigue, chronic headaches, migraines, sleep disruption, anxiety, and sensory burnout.

Nothing beats summer heat like a carport, friends, and puzzles!

Summer means water play, popsicles, laughter and fun!
Watch out for a fun water art project later this week that you can do at home!

I apologize for the personsl content, but it’s kinda a big deal. Did you know I’m adopting some sweet girls soon?
Along with their adoption comes some expenses. One of the ways to handle those expenses is through making some adoption specific shirts. If you are interested in purchasing, the link is in the comments.
If this is tacky or distasteful to you, I apologize, but I don’t know how else to share the info! It’s a big deal, big day, big expense.

Maybe this is why I care so much about what my kids watch…
Because the shows we grew up with felt different😭
Little Bear.
Franklin.
Dragon Tales.
Bear in the Big Blue House.
Blue’s Clues.
They didn’t rely on constant noise.
Fast-moving scenes.
Bright flashing colors every second.
They were slower.
They taught kindness.
Patience.
Curiosity.
Friendship.
Problem-solving.
Imagination.
And somehow, decades later, we still remember them!!
Not because they were the loudest.
But because they made us feel something.
Now that I’m a mom, I find myself searching for that same feeling for my own kids.
A childhood filled with imagination.
Playing outside.
Building forts.
Asking questions.
Getting bored sometimes.
Just a little less noise.
A little more wonder.
Maybe that’s why these shows still have a place in our home🙋🏼♀️🗣️
What show from your childhood would you bring back for today’s kids?

Hi. It’s June 1. Pride month starts for the LGBTQ community. We are a gay owned, woman owned business. Always have been, always will be. It’s never impacted or harmed the education any child has received.
If finding this out is upsetting or alarming, I can understand that being new information. However, I will not be hiding.
There are LGBTQ students we serve and they deserve to see safe and healthy representation too.
Happy Pride to those celebrating. For anyone offended, I ask you refrain from hate speech here.
