Field Day 2026 was one for the books!

What an incredible day blessed with beautiful weather, endless smiles, and unforgettable memories!

A special thank you to Mr. K and Mrs. Gunn for organizing such an outstanding Field Day. Your hard work and dedication made today a tremendous success for our entire school community.

One of my favorite parts of Field Day is seeing our families come together to cheer on and support our students. Your presence makes these moments even more meaningful. It was also wonderful to welcome back former Gerena graduates who stopped by before heading off to college this fall. Seeing our alumni return reminds us of the strong community we continue to build together.

Thank you to our amazing staff for your energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to making today special for every student. And to our families, thank you for believing in our school and partnering with us to create experiences our children will remember for years to come.

We are excited to announce that Right At School will be our new before and after school program for the upcoming school year!

Right At School offers a safe, engaging, and enriching environment where students can learn, play, and grow before and after the school day.

We encourage families who are interested to register early to secure their child’s spot. We look forward to partnering with Right At School to provide another wonderful opportunity for our Gerena students and families!

🇺🇸 Today, Gerena proudly celebrated Flag Day by honoring the values of freedom, unity, and citizenship that our flag represents. Events like these help our students learn about our nation’s history while fostering respect and community pride.

A special thank you to Mr. Kiaresh for coordinating such a wonderful celebration for our school community. Your hard work helped make this a meaningful and memorable event for our students and staff!

Today we celebrated our annual School BBQ, and what a wonderful day it was!

Students and staff enjoyed the beautiful weather while spending time together and sharing a delicious meal provided by Home Grown . Events like these help strengthen our school community and create lasting memories for our students.

Our Annual Literacy Parade Was a Wild Success!

Today, Gerena School celebrated our Annual Literacy Parade as the culminating event for our One School, One Book initiative featuring The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.

Students across all grade levels immersed themselves in this incredible story, engaging in meaningful discussions and creating amazing visual representations that showcased their understanding, creativity, and love of reading.

A huge shout-out to our dedicated team for helping students design engaging visual prompts and creating learning experiences that made today’s parade so special. We also extend our gratitude to the families who joined us and cheered on our students. Your support helps foster a strong community of readers and learners.

Today, our PK–1 students had the incredible opportunity to enjoy an engaging performance by Guavo Learning! 🎶📚🌎

Founded by David Gonzalez, a proud Springfield Public Schools graduate, Guavo Learning inspires young learners through music, language, and culture while celebrating the power of bilingualism.

It was especially meaningful to welcome David back to Springfield to give back to the community that helped shape him. His passion and commitment to empowering the next generation through bilingual education left a lasting impression on our students.
