Congratulations to LLCC students Daniel Welchel and Tamara Rahman for placing in the top five at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta. Welchel earned fourth in Heavy Equipment Operation and Rahman placed fifth in HVACR. This national event draws more than 19,000 attendees and highlights excellence in career and technical education. LLCC celebrated Juneteenth over the last two weeks with meaningful events including a flag raising with the Juneteenth Committee and a “Journey to Juneteenth” event, which invited the community to explore history while creating T-shirts and enjoying a paint and lunch experience.

Lincoln Land Community College is proud to celebrate the Class of 2026. More than 1,800 degrees and certificates were conferred this past year and graduates were honored at a commencement ceremony on Friday, May 15. LLCC Adult Education celebrated English Language Learning (ELL) students during a Recognition Ceremony this week. These determined students balance language classes with other educational goals like, completing pre-CNA coursework, completing the citizenship course and one student even earned her CNA certification.
Fun fact! Students in LLCC ELL classes speak 25 languages.

It is National Prairie Day and LLCC is proud to highlight the native prairie grasses that thrive on our campus. Prairie grasses are a key part of Illinois’ natural heritage and play an important role in supporting wildlife and sustainable land use. Next time you are on campus take a moment to appreciate the prairie views and the learning they inspire.
