UF IFAS Extension in Martin County offers a diverse range of science-based programs.
The Martin County Extension is part of a nationwide network of land grant universities providing non-biased, research-based information to America's citizens. In our state, Extension's land grant link is the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences(IFAS). Martin County Extension serves as a bridge between the research labs of the university and the local community by providing educational opportunities for adults and youth.

Educating Martin County and City of Stuart land and park management staff, and Master Gardeners on natural land management to improve water quality! This workshop, part of our Protecting Florida's Resources Best Management Practices Training program, was hosted by Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Attendees learned about management of the Park's resources, the Explore Natural Martin program, and Martin County's and partners' efforts to acquire land to preserve green spaces and improve water quality.

The 2026 Protecting Florida's Resources Best Management Practices series began this week, with a Bioblitz at Halpatiokee Regional Park. Municipal staff joined UF/IFAS Extension Agents from St. Lucie and Martin County in documenting the park's biodiversity, using iNaturalist. Even in just one hour of exploration, the participants documented 148 observations and 63 species! 🍀How many years have you been in 4-H? I've been in 4-H for 9 years
🍀 What 4-H projects have you participated in? I've participated in: poultry, goats, sheep, swine, arts/crafts, and public speaking.
🍀 Where are you going next? I'm attending the University of Southern California in the Fall to pursue a degree in Political Science and then go on to law school.

Martin County 4-H Class of 2026 Senior Spotlight: Vera Howe
🍀How many years have you been in 4-H? I've grown up doing it since my sisters were involved, but officially joined at 5. 13+years
🍀 What 4-H projects have you participated in? Leadership roles, 4-H University, Leg, iLead, Ignite, Livestock bunnies-steers and everything in between.
🍀 Where are you going next? This summer I will be competing in the Miss America Teen competition. I will be working with the Supervisor of Elections as Deputy of Election Support Services and I was graciously offered a position after completing my internship, which was such a blessing. I plan on attending IRSC in the fall to continue my AA degree.
