Infused Kinder Cottage

This morning at Infused Kinder Cottage looked a little different for every child.

One student learned how to fix a bike chain and pump tires.

Another spent the morning building towering marble mazes, testing pathways, and redesigning them again and again.

Some children rode pedal cars around the upper yard, laughing as they raced from one adventure to the next.

Others spent the morning caring for week-old chicks, listening to tiny peeps, watching them explore xylophones, and even hosting an impromptu tea party.

No one was doing the same thing.

No one needed to.

In a mixed-age environment, children are free to follow meaningful work, imaginative play, practical life skills, movement, creativity, and wonder.

A bicycle repair shop.
A marble engineering lab.
A chick nursery.
A pedal car adventure.

All in the same morning.

As a mother of four, moments like this hold my heart.

PE at Infused Kinder Cottage looks a little different around here. We include our lamb named Mallow, a big brother sprinting behind, and my daughter leading the way… right up until she takes a funny little tumble mid-run.

We pause for a second, check in, and then it’s right back up again: ‘don’t die’… and they’re off for another lap like nothing happened.

This is childhood here—movement, laughter, animals, and learning that lives in real life, not just inside four walls.

at Infused Kinder Cottage, families may choose one day or five days each week of morning and afternoon enrichment, with time spent in the garden, in my kitchen, tending to the chickens, and immersed in the simple beauty of childhood close to nature.

At Infused Kinder Cottage, the earth is one of our greatest teachers.

Today the children worked together at the compost, carefully shoveling rich, living soil from the bottom and returning it to the chicken area as part of our ongoing cycle of care.

As they dug and lifted the soil, they discovered wriggling worms and broke into laughter and excitement, fully engaged in the wonder of what was moving beneath their hands.

There was curiosity, joy, and deep focus as they participated in real, meaningful work with the natural world around them.

Through Earth Art, the children are learning:

How living systems change over time and create healthy soil. How to work with their hands and contribute to real tasks. How to care for animals, soil, and the environment they live within. How they are part of the ongoing rhythm and cycle of the land.

They are learning that nothing is wasted. That time creates transformation.That the earth is always working.
