Assistant Principal at Timberstone Junior High of Sylvania Schools
Yesterday was the last day with students, and there were definitely some difficult moments saying goodbye to my 8th graders. This is the first class I was able to have all three years, and they will not be forgotten quickly. Luckily for me, I have some pretty amazing sixth graders that I know will give me plenty of smile about over the next two years, including my TikTok dance debut.
SMH, do better parents.

They said, “Can you talk to him?”
So I got down to his level… then a notch below.
One-on-one can be intimidating for a student, so I give up the physical advantage right away.
Not as a strategy — just as a starting point.
I told him I’ve worked in all 50 states.
He smiled… and started naming them.
45 out of 50. Just like that.
Reminder:
The student in front of us is always more than the behavior we were told about.
