Our students made wreaths as holiday gifts this week from fallen branches 🌲❤️

In response to learning that SNAP had been cut, our Food Justice in Action classes decided to set up a dry goods food pantry for the community, processing some herbs and spices and donating from the classes’ stock of pasta sauce to share. Please donate unopened and unexpired foods for the community.

What a treat to have our sibling taro grow to nourish so many students and staff. Thank you to M for showing us how to harvest leaves, transplant the keke, and graciously cooking lau for all the students today 🥰

Big gratitude to our community member and resident corn expert, our students, and our plants for a beautiful day. We harvested the milpa planted in April and are drying the corn, beans, and squash. The tomatillos and marigold were also harvested to share with community.

Summer things with summer crew ❤️

ICYMI, we’re delivering veggies to families on the summer meals route this summer. We’ll be following the Kids Cafe bus on Thursdays so kids can grab their free lunch and families can pick up a share of produce! This week we gave over 300 lb of food away to the community ❤️

Drop in volunteer hours have changed! We are no longer offering Fridays. If you’re a farm volunteer who has worked with us before, you’re welcome to drop by between 9-12 on Wednesdays. We’re working together each week but will be on a break July 23 (next week).

And that’s a wrap! Another school year done. Each of these boots represents one student who spent the year with us, growing alongside the plants and learning agricultural education as well as valuable life lessons. Thanks to our teachers, each boot was scrubbed clean and sun dried (it took two whole days!) and are ready for summer storage.
