Tips and following on games! 🤼♂️
There are lots of ways to constrain this game.
Do players have to stay standing, or can they drop to a knee to tag?
Do they have to remain connected, or can they disengage and re-enter to score?
You can also change the win conditions, which shifts what the athletes need to attend to.
One win condition might be locking hands around a leg.
Another could be lifting the leg—using one hand or two.
For this version, I direct attention to focus on destabilizing their partner, making the lift more achievable.
Ben Askren showing off his unique style of elite grappling.

Ben Askren is genuinely so elite at escaping bad positions. As elite if not moreso than his actual offensive wrestling skills in mma.
To go 18-0 in 2/3 of the major mma promotions at the time, with no striking, minimal jiujitsu, no fast twitch explosion, and the need of a hip replacement… he was basically like if a random 50 year old English teacher was whooping on Bellator champions, escaping their best offensive efforts and then smashing them on top.
Imagine having the skills of Ben Askren with a healthy mobile body and striking ability.
Chaining together takedown attempts is a very important skill.

Chain wrestling isn’t always about knowing more moves. It’s about staying connected and recognizing affordances.
The expert doesn’t have a bigger arsenal of “moves”, he just sees opportunities sooner.
