This past week, I drove back to the small Colorado town where I grew up.

I hadn't planned the trip. But after nearly two years, it was finally time to spread the remainder of my mom's ashes.

I visited the houses we lived in, the parks where I played, and the streets that shaped so much of who I am. What struck me most was how little the town had changed.

Fifty years later, much of it looks exactly the same.

And yet, everything is different.

As I stood there, I realized this journey wasn't really about the ashes. It was about completion.

There was something unfinished that had been quietly taking up space in my heart. Not loudly. Not every day. But enough.

And when I finally let it go, I felt lighter.

It made me wonder...

What are we all carrying that we're ready to complete?

A conversation.
A decision.
A grief.
A dream.
A chapter that's been waiting to be closed so the next one can begin.

Jessica and I recently visited Alcatraz.

Beautiful flowers everywhere. And the doors were open.

Which seemed odd for a place built to hold the most dangerous prisoners in America.

Then I realized...

Most of us have our own version of Alcatraz.

Not bars. Not locks.

Just old beliefs, outdated stories, and fears we've been carrying around for so long they feel like truth.

Maybe the door isn't locked.

Maybe it's time to stop arguing for our limitations. To start seeing our beauty.

One of our favorite things about our Awaken & Align 1 Day retreat is that it never looks exactly the way people expect.
